The Neck Has Landed

I just couldn't justify buying all the tools I'd need to make the neck myself (though I very well may still do so later, if this becomes more than just a one-off project), so I bought one premade. I've just about got all the parts now.

It's gonna look pretty sweet attached to a Shell Pink body.

Re: The Neck Has Landed

Thanks! It does look a bit like Mahogany, but it's actually Bubinga. Roughly the shade of light Pau Ferro in person, with somewhat similar streaking. Lots of pinkish undertones. I'm planning to paint the headstock; haven't decided about the back of the neck.

Other details:

Fender scale (25.5")

12" radius

Fairly generic modern C neck shape

Tuner holes that will cause me some headache, because they're too big for the vintage Klusons i like, and the Klusons are too big for the adapter bushings I bought.

Somewhat sharp fret ends. Will need to tend to those.

Overall, it's not *exactly* what I'd choose if i were custom designing one, but I liked the color and it was cheap.

Sweet! I totally dig the tele head with the body combo. Is that mahogany?

Here's a pic with both the alder body and an African Mahogany body blank (that will be my next project) I had on hand:
