I was in guitar center the other day, i know they are terrible for stuff like this but there aren't many good shops around here, and plugged into the new 25 watt supro. I didn't know what kind of tubes it had or anything, all i could see was the single channel, vol, tre, mid and bass controls. It was one of the better amps I have played in quite some time. Very full sounding and made the strat i had picked up to try it out sound very thick, not like the usual more nasaly tones i seem to be able to get out of a strat. Strats and I don't seem to get along to well together, i want to like them but they are never thick enough for me, so long introduction to my real questions about te amp.
I know what tubes and things like that are in these amps but, with it being a single channel amp and using el84's I wonder how close one of the 18 watt marshalls could get me. someone has made a single channel version of that 18 watt and that is really what i am thinking about.
So has anyone tried both of those amps? does anyone know where i might find a layout for the supro to compare with an 18 watt? I would rather build my next amp, but I really enjoyed that supro and it is only about $1000, so the price differnce isn't huge.
any help or just general discussion would be appreciated. thanks for your help guys.
