The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread

Re: The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread

Cool....I'll get with you here in the next couple of days or so about payment.

Re: The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread

Earlier I discussed the possibility of a Custom Airbrushed Enclosure. My friend and singer in my band Kevin has agreed to do this. He's a seriously talented artist. Here are a few samples of his work.

It's just a pedal, so he doesn't have lots of room on there for a really detailed design. Simple stuff is no problem. Examples would be flames, skulls, textures, gradients, possibly a space scene to go with the theme. Also, you'd get no control labels this way, but that kind of makes it look more "custom" IMO. I will include a manual so you know what each control does.

If you're interested in this, it's an extra $30 US on top of the price for your region. You can either add it to your total when you pay me, or send a second payment if you've already paid. Either way, you'll have to let me know pretty soon what sort of thing you want painted on there. If you have an idea and you want me to clear it with Kev in advance before you order, that's no problem - just e-mail or PM.

man those flames look sick!!! that would look so original on a pedal, then you could call it the FTL hotbox!

Re: The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread

Wow! brit84 has ordered a second pedal for his friend, thus claiming number 005.

Re: The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread

Seriously contemplating that trade....

Did I miss the answer to the power option question? Will it have a jack for A/C power?

Yeah, I mentioned that in post #2. It uses a standard "barrel" power supply jack (like Boss, Dunlop/MXR, etc.) and takes anything from 9V to 18V. I run mine off a One Spot and it's perfect.

The other option only works if you have a Canadian bank account.

I'll see if there's something else I can do for you. I'll PM you with more info.

so lemme ask you a question. can you dial in the pedal to run as a clean boost when on and then some nice thick OD/dist when you hit the boost switch?

if so, i might need to be getting some monies together.

That's tough to answer. It depends a lot on how you have your amp dialed in, and how hot your pickups are. I played around with it using the clean clip setting, and it WILL push a small clean amp into overdrive, especially on the red channel. On clean mode, it will still grind a bit if you have the level cranked because you're actually getting transistor and op amp distortion there. It's a pretty nice low gain OD tone that way actually.

I experimented with this for you, and I had trouble dialing it in to a point where the green channel did not clip and the red channel did. I am curious if an 18V power supply would make a difference. Unfortunately I don't have one.

Hope that sort of answers your question.

Re: The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread

hey, Matt.

I mentioned your pedal to some friends at another forum (not SD... is that a sin?) and they're wondering where they can get one. i told them i would check with you if it was ok for them to contact you out in this forum. i don't want to give them your email i don't know them all that well. if they want they can get in touch with you through here. i told them they're probably all out of luck trying to get in this run, but maybe if you decide to do another one down the road. is it alright if i give them your username?

Re: The Official FTL Drive 1st Production Run Thread
