How did you find the Brian May guitar??
I got it from musiciansFriend in like '02 i think .. it was a "limited edition" #39 of 40 made for the US market supposedly right when Burns was handing over the license to the Brian May Guitar Co. .
It was a cool-ish guitar but the weird radius and kind of muddy tones never floated my boat. It was finished nicely too but for some reason still felt kind of "cheap" for lack of a better word.
I took good care of it and unloaded it for 1.5x what i paid for it so that was cool (i ebayed it and i don't think the guys that were bidding had any idea .. i had done a little research and expected to MAYBE get 3/4 of what i paid so hooray ignorance!).
I think they are offering a standard production model in gold again.
What is that little switch hole on the top for?
Amazing guitar.
Does it have one now or did you remove it for some reason? The hole was for a slider switch to mimic the inbetween setting on the pup selector. It was installed in about 1960. 5 way switches were not available then.

Not criticizing, just curious, that thing is so cool it should be played till it can't be played no more than placed in a museum.
Sometime later I put a newer P/G on the guitar and decided to remove the switch, I wasn't using it anyway. Thankfully I saved the old guard to be put back on. Some people see this guitar as just a collection of old parts and some see it as some sort of holy grail, anymore I don't know. Here is a copy of the pic Leo took in 1953
