I found this on another site that the pickup Seymour Duncan wound for Van halen(early days) was the Duncan JB.Type in(search) "Ride the Seymour Duncan Special" and read the article.So all those other so called Van halen pickups like the 78,custom custom,evenly voiced harmonics,custom are basicly just money makers or what ever you want to call them" I found this as a interesting read.

Wow! That's surprising because I thought those were a more recent model. I've been chasing that tone for a while. I'll buy a set and let you guys know what I think.

Yeah... he rewound it with wire from a 53 flying v and used A8 mag from a super 70 in it.

I heard that the screw coil was actually wound with EVH' s hair and the slug coil was wound with hair from David Lee Roth... the magnet also came from a meteorite that hit EVH in the head when he was just a boy.
