I read in Hit Parader back in the late 70s that the secret to his pickup tone was love . . . that and malt liquor.

He actually potted his pickups in malt liquor. I read somewhere that he got really upset when Schlitz wouldn't give him an endorsement deal.

This was fun stuff..Best EVH thread ever was a looooong one in another forum. People posted funny pics with Eddie's head on other bodies..Moshzilla and all kinds of stuff that made me just howl at work.

I always thought they were gold foil tiesco pickups rewired with ignition wire from a 1970 Dodge Challenger.

I alone know the secret and now it can be told.
Ed used to boil his strings to clean them when he didn't have a lot of money.
The secret to Ed's tone is the chemical content in the Pasadena Water supply. That's right, FLOURIDATED WATER is the secret!

I thought the first albums were recorded with a cigar box... the stripped one was just his road gear.

I remember that tiny square red pinstripe guitar ,It was his God ugly Steinberg guitar .
