Which do you like better?

(If you like any varriant of the british tone, or marshall it's self, select marshall.)

(If you like mesa or any varriant of the american tone, or fender it's self, select fender.)

Re: The poll to end all polls!

I like the tight, creamier tone of Mesas opposed to Marshalls and nothing beats a Fender clean, only other American amps get close anyway. I'm not saying that I hate the British sound, I love Marshalls, Voxes and especially Oranges, but I'd go for a Tweed or a Lone Star or a Blackface over them. I think the tight bass response and smoother tone on most American amps compliments my Les Pauls well.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

American Style Amps = Win.
Marshalls dirty channel = :S

Then again, Oranges rule all. Pitty I can't afford one just yet.
Ooooh the choice!
I'll go Fender.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

I spent YEARS AND YEARS playing ONLY ONLY ONLY Fenders - solid states to Hot Rod Deluxe, Deluxe Verb, Blues Jr, Twins

Then I started to use Marshalls bc it was the only thing that kept up with other Marshalls. No looking back. If I had to choose, Rivera and Bogner offer EL34 Marshall/Fender variants that I love. But if you want the true mojo, ESP FOR GRIND, you need the EL34 versions. So Marshall it is!

Re: The poll to end all polls!

i voted british cause i love marshall's/vox's.

u should've added Bogner (German)

Re: The poll to end all polls!

No brainer for me....Marshalls all the way. My tone is voiced somewhat of a cross between American tones and British tones though, leaning heavily more to the British tones. It comes from all the musical influences from home and across the pond.

When given the choice, I'll take a Marshall every time....even over the hot rodded boutique Marshall-like amps. Ain't nothin' like the real thing. :D

Edit: I love some Fender amps tone too, and can't forget the Mission Aurora. It's half and half (half British, half American). GREAT amp. A little Vox, a little Fender, a little Matchless, a little Marshall.

Marshall, Vox, Matchless, Splawn, Germino, Bogner, Mojave, Aiken, the list goes on..

Only the British sound provides the chunk, crunch, sparkle, grind and roar that made me want to play guitar in the first place.

There are a lot of US-type amps that I really like, too (mostly tweed Fenders and a select few Mesa products) but, as I've said on here before, there's a reason I play through a Splawn.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

My Bluesbreaker runs 6l6's...still a Marshall and sounds Marshally. I have nothing against Fenders though. Would love to own a Tweed. But Mesas isn't something that I'm that fond of.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

Marshall for me. Not to sound like some bloody HC teen, but I play blues and metal and need something that nails both. Marshall is simply the most versatile compromise then. :)
But with the help of Jeff Seal, I'll be having an amp with best of both continents in one amp. I don't have to choose anymore or compromise between a better clean or a better crunch and there are more amps out there these days with intercontinental sounds.
This forces me to conclude that this poll is pants. ;)

Re: The poll to end all polls!

I voted Marshall, only because when you get right down to it, I'm from the late 70s, early 80s, and that tone is like going back to my old neighborhood. The nice though is in real life, we don't really have to make a choice do we? We can have them both!

Re: The poll to end all polls!

My Orange is my favourite amp followed closely by my JCM800 2210, so I'll pick British :)

Cool! A vote for the mid-Atlantic option. :D

Re: The poll to end all polls!

different amps do different things but i said marshall for electric. if i could vote again i would vote mesa for my acoustic

Re: The poll to end all polls!

i've never got along well with marshally stuff...i like other people's tone through them, but not my own :smack:

but...i love Fender and Mesa and the big fat low ends and sparlky cleans!!!
