Re: The poll to end all polls!

I voted marshall. If I could only have one amp for the rest of my life, it would be my Edana. It gets loverly cleans and it dirties up nicely. Best of both worlds mate. Marshall just has a grit that I can't live without.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

Heh..was this poll even neccessary? :laugh2:

Marshall is THE sound of rock.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

This is tough...I love Fender cleans, love Marshall dirt, kinda like Marshall cleans, love Tweed Fender distortion...Clapton did play Marshalls, as did the rest of my heroes.

I'm going to have to say Marshall because of the classic rock sounds that I want so badly. My favorite Marshall though is the JTM-45 because of it's almost Fender-like clean and Marshall dirt. I can't wait to order my Edana!

i voted british cause i love marshall's/vox's.

u should've added Bogner (German)

Bogners are made in California. Reinhold Bogner is originally fromm Germany.

More to the point. For many years I used a Vibrolux. When I needed a new amp I replace it with a Super Reverb. I bought my Super Reverb abot 15 years ago and it is still going strong. Fenders offer a large amount of tonal variations, but there are some tones that can only be had by EL34's or Marshalls. ABout 12 years ago I began searching for an amp that would give me Fender cleans and Marshall Crunch and at the time I could not find any one box that would do that. SO I kept my Super and I bought a Marshall and I A/B them. Up until early this year thats what I was using. The Drive channel on my 900 was beautiful..... exactly the tones I was after, THe Fender was giving me beautiful cleans and if I turn the Volume up it can be quite gainy also. A wonderful combination of tones.

In February I bought a Bogner Shiva and my dreams have come true. I now have some amazingly beautiful cleans, but more like a Plexi than a Fender, and the Drive channel is nothing short of magical. Just like any new piece of gear you have to spend/devote time to it to really get a feel to how it reacts with different guitars and your touch. If I had to do it all over again I would have bought a head and cab instead of the Combo I have. I am still learning how to use the Bogner, but on a bad day it is still lightyears better than anything else I have played thru. Fortunately I still have my Super Reverb, Marshall and my Deluxe Reverb. THese amps I feel are to good to let go. Fortunately I don't have to pick just one! I like a Marshall when I need it, I like a Fender when I need it, and for GIGing I canget alsmost all I would ever need out of my Shiva

Re: The poll to end all polls!

Well,as some of you allready know i love my ac30!
But,i think fender makes some really great clean tones. One day i`ll have a fender too:)

Re: The poll to end all polls!

I'm a Fender guy all the way . Their amps have the best clean IMO, and their Gain isn't that bad either contrary to what some folks may think.

Poll to end all polls was posted in 2006, yet all polls did not end... Hmm... :scratchch

Re: The poll to end all polls!

Fender for squeaky cleans, Vox for overdrive, Marshall for rock, Mesa for metal... But if I could only choose one, it would have to be a Marshall. There are ups and downs for both; things they can and can't do, but I think Marshall gets you closest to all of it.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

Both Fender and Marshall have been in my amplifier arsenal since I started playing and I love both in different ways for different things. However if I had to just pick one amplifier to go play a gig right now, it would be my TSL 100 half stack. It's everything I need all in one amp...very versatile. The warmest cleans, perfect crunch sound, and great distortion.....not good enough for heavy metal but I don't play heavy metal. And running my Strat through it with SD Lil' 59's at the bridge and neck.......the sound will melt your face and shake your inner being.

Re: The poll to end all polls!

It's complicated for me...

I have a Mesa Triple Rectifier, Fender HRD, Marshall DSL100, and a newly accquired Peavey 5150II They all have their moments of greatness and not-so-greatness.

For cleans, duh, Fender.

For crunch, duh, Marshall.

For high-gain tones I have to say I prefer the 5150 to the Mesa Boogie. But they are both very brutal, and very American.

'Murica wins!

Re: The poll to end all polls!

By the way? Why do we have to choose? I have a Fender AND a Marshall....

(and like Simon, a Cube with settings for both!)
