Re: the REAL best shredders...

Marty Friedman. George Lynch. Warren DeMartini. Chris Poland. Malmsteen. Satriani. I've enjoyed listening to each shred.

Re: the REAL best shredders...

al dimeola
allan holdsworth

and

django reinhardt! :saeek: he was already shredding way before any "shredders" were even born.

Re: the REAL best shredders...

yngwie all the way i just love neo-classical speed, even if the guy is a complete ****

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Looking at that list, I'm reminded of an interview I read years ago. I can't recall who it was, but I bleieve it was a banjo player who, upon hearing Earl Scruggs remarked "I wish I could play like that...and then not play like that."

Re: the REAL best shredders...

I'm still for Michael Romeo.
Watch the 'Guitar chapter' Video.

You will understand why

Re: the REAL best shredders...

I would say Al Di Meola or Jimmy Bruno, but since neither are on the poll, Steve Morse will have to do (which isn't necessarily a bad thing.)

What about Michael Schenker or Uli? Those guys rule.

Re: the REAL best shredders...

I don't really care for shredding, I much prefer Van Halen, Dime, Zakk, Rhodes, or Jimi type stuff. I voted for Becker just because he was supposed be dead over 10 years ago and he's still hangin in there like a champ. Rock on!

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Ya know they are all great players, but Friday night I worked the Atomic Amps onstage for them for a big show near NAMM with Nuno Bettencourt, Warren DeMartini, Neil Zaza, George Lynch, D*ick Dale and tons of other famous non guitar players, but the one that was absolutely on fire and the sharpest I've ever seen him, was Yngwie Malmsteen. I was sitting with Harry Kolbe who did many mods on Yngwie's Marshall's and he's probably seen him more than anyone I know. Harry said he's never seen him in better form. It was like the metal version of Nero while Rome burned. His usually drummer played, with Rudy Sarzo on Bass and Dream Theatre's keyboard player (can't think of his name right now) on 2 tunes. Just a blistering show!

Re: the REAL best shredders...

my vote goes to yngwie. I just love his somehow a bit classical style and of coure he's just brilliant when it comes to his technique.

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Out of that list above: Shawn Lane.

Beside this list: Allan Holdsworth, Greg Howe.
I also like Morse, Tony and Satch of course. :)

Re: the REAL best shredders...

Well, I would have to go with Joe Satriani. He is fast, he is clean, and he is allways improvising and looking for something different. I also like where Steve Vai is heading. Not only is his playing good, but he is also a good showman on stage. He has really grown as a musician since going on his own, and his newest stuff is the best yet.
