That is killer how dose it sound? and i think gold hardware would really make that finish pop

Re: The Tele is Unvieled!

It sounds awesome dude!!! This is my first Tele and not my last. I did a treble bleed mod on it which is good thing. I notice when I use the tone control to cut highs the bass isn't boosted. i know some prefer the neck pup on a tele to have a nickel siver cover but this has a brass cover and it sounds beautiful. I had Don me make a bridge pick up to represent early 50s output and early 60's output.

Re: The Tele is Unvieled!

Very nice how heavy is it?
I am not sure about the exact wieght. It doesn't feel very heavy but not featherlight either. When I ordered the body it was specified as one piece swamp ash 4lbs or under. the body by itself didn't feel very heavy.

Heres another shot of it standing next to my much loved Fender 5-string jazz bass.

Teles are the only electrics I really enjoy playing now. That one looks really nice, and that neck looks like a deep U shape. How does an alluminum saddle differ in tone compared to brass?

slightly brighter. Gives low strings a little more snap.

This is a great looking Tele. It obviously is. I have a question though, why did you cover the beautiful birds eye maple with rosewood? You could get regular maple neck (quater sawn rock maple maybe) for a better price and put the rosewood on it and it would sound the same right? Am I mistaken?

Yeah it would sound the same (relative to the individual piece of wood) but even though its just on the back I still love the look of the birdseye. I don't think the guitar would look right with out the rosewood either though.

Re: The Tele is Unvieled!

Cool lookin guitar. I like gold hardware on some guitars, but yours looks better the way you did it. I still wonder if it'd look better with a matte black pickguard on it though.

Re: The Tele is Unvieled!

Love that color with the matching headstock. How much of the finishing/assembly did you do?
I didn't do any finishing as I just don't have the stuff or experiance to do it. I did all the wiring and most of the drilling. I had someone else, cut the nut (bone) install tunners and ferrules and the string tree since that really can't be done untill the nut is cut and strings are on.

I have heard too many horror stories of tunner screws breaking off and again lacking experiance I left that to some one else. I have buile two oyher guitars which shall be posted soon and actually the guy installing the tunners had two of the screws break off on him. He was able to deal with it and all was well, but I felt like it was something I was beeter off for now to leave to the pros. I did fish the neck on that guitar. Did it in true oil, and used some vintage amber stain from stew mac to tint the neck.
I built 3 guitars for one simple reason. you can get a custom shop quality axe at a production guitar price.
