Re: The Ultimate Les Paul Tone
Ok here's a bump for the specs I kept forgetting to get of my Dad's '69 Deluxe.
Gibson Mini-Humbuckers with polepieces
Double Ring Klusons
I can't comment about the tuners making a differences because I've never done a direct comparison.
Nut Width-------------- 1 9/16 in
String Spacing at Bridge-1 15/16 in
Neck pickup height------1/8 in
Bridge pickup-----------3/32
On an unrelated topic now that I've really had some experience comparing long neck tennons and short neck tennons I've become convinced that the neck attachement method does make a difference. I've noticed that guitars with the shorter tennons have a more airy or topical sound with the neck pickup. The guitars with the long neck tennon seem to have a deeper sound, maybe a bit more thick, however they seem as articulate if not more so. I'd really like to try a whole lot of long neck tennon Pauls where I could say something definitive on it.
