You mean the guy in your avatar pic is not a composite of the 3's company performers?

It would have worked better without the brunette's moustache.

Man VK, those were some verbally taxing questions, but good ones none the less. Made me reflect a bit :)

That was half the point - thanks for being so thorough! :)

I've always heard, as some kind of unwritten law, that if you get into Berkeley, you won't get into UCLA, and vice versa. Apparently, that's BS!

Nope! I know quite a few people here that got into both. Actually, come to think of it, a lot of people. So if you're undecided about either, just apply for both!

Re: The Well XVII:Cooter McClarky goin' buck wild"

I'm actually leaning way more heavily towards UCLA, because of the social conditions you described, among other things. I'll be there for four years... not sure if I'd want to jump into an area famous for it's high number of social faux pas for that long. :laugh2:

But that does make sense - I'll apply just for the hell of it I suppose.

Another mouse fails at life.

That one makes 6 this week :D

Yeah, I know it's kind of sick, but I try to get at least one good pic from each feeding session (a feeding session is typically 3 mice).

So, back on topic.... as you play longer, do you get more or less anal about your tone? In other words, do you freak out about every little thing, or just make it work?

Re: The Well XVII: Bring Your Daughters To the Slaughter

Its kinda weird. I care more about my tone now, or at least am more conscious about it, but it isn't something I stress over. I mean, 95% of the time I play I'm just plugged into garage band (a recording program on my laptop) and rock out with my headphones on. And let me tell you, while not totally unbearable, garage band is no recto

But then again, I've got a track record of swapping out the pickups in at least one of my guitars ever 4-6 months - though that probably will stop as I'm quite happy with the phat cats in my Cu22 and the C-5/PGn in my singlecut :D - and I'm wanting to experiment with new tubes in my recto that I never get the opportunity to even open up :laugh2:

So as time goes on I care more about my tone, but I see myself generally doing less to tweak my tone. An interesting paradox, I know. But I think a large part of my apathy towards buying tone enhancing bits for my rig is that I know that they'll just sit in my apartment for now. I mean, sure I might love to sell my half stack and buy a splawn or to buy a lead boost or this or that, but how useful will that actually be for me?

That being said, I am going to buy a new 4x12 as a tonal improvement over my Marshall one I'm not that crazy about, but that is largely due to the fact that my buddy wants to buy my Marshall, which will help fund my avatar purchase.

And about the snake feeding pics, sometimes you just gotta enjoy the simple pleasures in life ;)

since we share the same favorite band in Strung Out i'll go with a simple question that you will rack your brain over trying to make up your mind....

what's your favorite song off each of their albums?

Oof, that is tough. I'll try my best, but just one of each album!?!?!

Of the albums I own...

Twisted by Design: 'Too Close to See'. It just makes you want to break ****, but in the good kind of way. That dueling guitar solo is awesome too. This one is hard as their tone in this album is just crushing. I also love 'Paper Walls' and the tone on 'Mind of My Own' and 'Ice Burn' are just so brutal.

Element of Sonic Defiance: 'Everyday' is my fave as it just gets me pumped. Notable mentions go to 'Scarecrow' and 'Mephisto' as well.

An American Paradox: 'Alien Amplifier'. I'm a sucker for that moog key line. Notable mentions go to 'The Kids', 'Cult of the Subterranean' and 'Velvet Alley'

Exile in Oblivion: 'Vampires'. Don't know why, that song just does it to me. Notable mentions go to 'Analog', 'Angel Dust', 'Blueprint of the Fall', 'No Voice of Mine' and 'Skeletondanse'. ****, there are a **** load of really good songs on that album.

Blackhawks Over Los Angeles: It is a tie between 'Party in the Hills' and 'Blackhawks Over Los Angeles' I can't choose. Notable mentions go to 'The Calling', 'Letter Home', 'Orchid' and 'Down Town'.

Live in a Dive: 'Bark At the Moon'. Makes Ozzy and his band look like a bunch of hacks. :D

Man, I love Strung Out. Soooooo many good songs. And it was really hard to choose from all the ones I mentioned.

Other than him being extremely awesome? I don't know. He just glows with rad-itude. When I found my old avatar of him I just about died with delight. Then when I found another I was ecstatic. I lost the old pic of him I had though :( I just want to know who he is.

Lol. Here you go.

I think I'll be up your way on tour this year. If things worked out, would you be down for meeting up?

What age did you start playing guitar?

What is your 2nd favorite band of all time?

What is my best post ever?

NorCal VS. SoCal?

You sir, are awesome :D

Of course. I mean, if I'm around and am not in the middle of some huge school endeavor. Even if I am, I could probably pull myself a way for a bit. Keep me posted.

What age did you start playing guitar?

I was ten years old when I started playing. I got my Goya acoustic for Christmas that year.

What is your 2nd favorite band of all time?

Ooh, this is really tough. I have a lot of bands that constantly rotate in and out of that position. But if I had to choose one, even with as much crap as I'll probably get for this, it would be Avenged Sevenfold. Walking the Fallen and City of Evil had some intense guitar parts that I absolutely love. It may not be popular to like them, but I don't really care. They put on a great show, sound great live and they can sure play their instruments.

What is my best post ever?

Probably the one where you admitted to giving yourself a tattoo in the 9th grade with a safety pin and a bic. Gotta love homemade tattoos :laugh2:

NorCal VS. SoCal?

Well, both have their perks. But I'd probably have to say SoCal as, assuming my plans come to fruition, that is where I will be moving in the next 1-4 years and probably living for a very long time. I love the weather down there and certain other things. But I can't deny the fact that the foothills of the Sierra's outside of Sacramento are very nice. And there are lakes, mountains and beaches as close as 10 minutes away and at most a 2 hour car trip away.

However, the job opportunities (once again, if I do get into law school), weather, tattoo artists and level of music stores in SoCal do trump NorCal. The traffic and real estate prices of SoCal I could do without though.

Do you like bunnies?

(hey, it's my thing)

Umm, not unless it is a sexy lady in a bunny outfit.

As a kid my siblings had rabbits as pets and I remember thinking they were crappy pets as one once got so scared by a dog that it had a heart attack and its heart basically blew up. It wasn't attacked, just barked at. The ones that were hearty enough to endure being looked at wrong by a canine were mean as hell and would scratch the **** out of my arms if I tried to hold them. Also, an ex-girlfriend of mine, upon hearing my disdain for these creatures, proceeded to tell me that her old pet rabbit died after her dog puked on it. Yes, you heard that right. Her dog not only threw up on her rabbit, but then the rabbit decided that being puked upon was the last straw and then it lost its zest for life. I was dumbfounded and have since believed that rabbits may in fact be the most frail pets on earth. I think the only way that rabbits could be any less hearty is if there was some sort of aquatic salt water coral rabbit (little joke for my fish tank loving friends... boo, that was terrible).

Do you ever think to yourself... if my avatar shaved... I'd hit him?

After seeing this I'd have to say that a large majority his sex appeal lay in that magical moustache.

That being said, my answer is a resounding no. Plus, I could never defile my idol.

Re: The Well XVII:Cooter McClarky goin' buck wild"

OK first off you know Winger is not Glam Rock right? They are Hair Metal/Rock, I ask because I must being a bigtime fan of the Glam era. Real Glam Rock bands were very rare by the 80's, the last truly great one being Hanoi Rocks IMO. Now some of the big poofy hair guys aspired to and even let fly some serious Glam but when you talk Glam Rock think the bands below not Winger please.

T-Rex, Ziggy-era Bowie, Roxy Music, Alice Cooper, Slade, The Sweet, Mud, NY Dolls, Silverhead, Roy Wood, Hollywood Brats, Gary Glitter

Much of the Punk scene grew out of the original Glam Rock scene. The outrageousness, the need and will to shock, etc.

I have to say I always figured you for more of an Import Racer type than a Truck type. What type of truck do you drive?

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I had just figured that Glam and Hair metal were synonymous terms. Learn something new everyday. Though hearing/knowing the distinction of Glam rock doesn't make me love it any less. I love that song 'Run Runaway' by Slade and Gary Glitter's look was just insanely awesome :D

Hahaha. Nooooo, unless you're talking about European sports cars being import racers (though I'm guessing you meant the Japanese fart can mobiles). I despise any vehicle that is FWD. I drive a truck because any car worth driving is out of my price range... that and the fact that it is kinda hard to fit half stacks, a motorcycle, __________ (insert what ever other random large object I'm constantly moving around) in the back seat of a car.

I drive a 2005 Nissan Frontier:

It looks a lot like that one, except mine is a metallic greenish gold color (sounds hideous but it is actually a pretty good color) and mine doesn't have the alloy wheels. I love it. A V6 that makes a ridiculous amount of power, a 6spd manual, its even pretty light for a truck. It is the first new car I've ever bought and I couldn't be happier.

When I think of Berkeley, I think of testosterone challenged vegan guys in Birkenstocks, who only like bands nobody has ever heard of, just to be ultra hip. Describe your least favorite Berkeley

male.

female.
