Low output PAF's and vintage spec single coils. They weren't in vogue for my first 10 years as a player. This forum actually turned me on to them, and now I get it.
They allow a guitar's natural tone to shine, and the thinner tone is made up for by being able to turn the amp louder, and actually utilizing the guitar volume and tone controls.
At the last User Group Day, Seymour played a new Schecter C-1....the last guitar I'd expect him to use. However, he had it loaded with Antiquities, and it sounded way better than it would have with the JB/Jazz it comes with. What's ironic is that I thought Seymour loved that set. The Antiqities had a better tone by far.
