Thinking about an EQ any suggestions?

Right now I am leaning towards a Source Audio I like the idea of having 4 presets. What I don't like is not being to reach simply down and adjust the wave. The auto scrolling function is also pretty cool though I don't know how much I would use it. I would be using it mainly as a bass boost on rhythms.

MESA/Boogie offers their Graphic EQ in pedal form.

That's a great idea. I've always had a fondness for problem-solver products.

I'm intrigued by the Mesa EQ pedal. I know the Throttle Box EQ has some nice bonus features over having both a Throttle Box and an EQ on the same board, but I like the flexibility of being able to use the two independently. Also, I suspect the Mesa will be well-built and sound really good compared to a lot of other EQ pedals.

On that Source Audio, there's got to be more resolution than display shows, right? -18db, -9db, 0, +9db, +18db

I wonder if there is one like your Dirt Clod, with analog signal path and digital control/presets?

+1 on the MXR. Super solid build, and it just works.

That said, I sold one of the super cheap Behringer ones to a professional musician. He uses it live and just won a Grammy, so I guess it does the job!

Also, if you're looking for just a bass boost, check out the Ibanez Bottom Booster.

That would be a dream. When I used the Source Audio Classic Distortion the EQ was built in. I have grown accustomed to having an EQ in line. I love the Dirt Clod but would like more control over the bass frequencies.

I used a GE-7 as my only boost/overdrive for years, pushing a JCM800. It's a great pedal. The big advantage is that it's foot switchable, unlike the MXR.

If you're still at the stage where you're wondering if an EQ is right for you, buy a used GE-7 to experiment with. Once you figure out how it fits into your rig, think about the fancier programmable units. You may find the one curve is enough.
