Thinking of switching from JB to Custom? (ESP Guitars, Bridge, Lead tone)

Re: Thinking of switching from JB to Custom? (ESP Guitars, Bridge, Lead tone)

Yes that's exactly what I'll do I'm trying to decide between G12T 75 and v30 actually...

Sorry, somehow I missed pages 2 and 3 when I posted, looks like you have gotten a lot of the same advice. I don't think the G12T is what you are looking for, I would recommend the G12M-65 Creamback over the G12T or the V30. The G12T has scooped mids, the V30 has very hyped mids, the Creamback is voiced flatter with warm highs.

+1
I’d also recommend the Splawn Small Blocks. 55w Greenback flavor. I love them.
I keep hearing that myself. I'd love to get my hands on one or two for my 2x12.

OP, whatever speaker you get, make sure it's rated for at least 50 watts. Your DSL40C is 40 watts max clean but if you crank the master to the max it'll go beyond that. Now, a DSL isn't a Plexi, so the power section is designed to stay cleaner, so it probably won't exceed the max RMS rating by 80% like a Plexi.

The G12M-65 Creamback has been hailed as a perfect match for the DSL40C. Some like the WGS Invader while others like the WGS ET65.

When I bought my Port City cab I got it unloaded. I almost bought a set of Creambacks for my Quickrod. Even though they would have been a great match as well, I decided on the Small Blocks instead. At $95/speaker as opposed to $150 for the Creambacks ....that was a no-brainer.

Didn't know the Creambacks were that much, you can get it as a free upgrade on the DSL40C from Sweetwater. I'd look at Warehouse or Eminence speakers. FWIW, I have a WGS British lead in a 1-12 cab and really like it. I've used quite a few Eminence speakers with great results too.

If you're planning the speaker upgrade, keep your PUP the way it is. A G12M-65 Creamback most probably will solve all your problems.
