So, I got a great idea foir a thread at last. Find ONE song that shows you what the exact quintessential sound of a particular amp exemplifies.
I'll start

1) Late 70's Marshall JCM 800/ early 70's Superlead;

I can get behind this thread. It's one of the reasons I posted that Darkness thread.
This is one of my exemplars of a cranked JCM with a Les Paul goin into it. Music starts at 1:00

Thats exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping for.Especially the Mesa Rectifier sound. Thnx.
To my way of thinking, thats a better, or more accesible example of a Recto then the heavily processed Metallica Rectifier sound.

Ampeg SVT... as a guitar amp.

In an article in Guitar Player Magazine (July 2007) Randall was asked what rig he used to record the solo on "Reelin' in the Years". He states, "That was my '63 Fender Stratocaster with a PAF humbucker in the neck position, straight into an Ampeg SVT bass amp. The SVT wouldn't have been my first choice for an amp--or even my fifth choice--but it worked a storm on that recording!"

I'm under the impression that this song is Jack White going straight into a Silvertone amp. Anyone know if I'm right or not?
