Finally finished re-tolexing the Marshall Mode 4 MF400A cab I got for $50. It's a slightly bigger than a normal cab especially up on casters. Looks nice and clean, basically brand new and really is a one of a kind in a good way now. Vintage logo, silver piping, new metal handles to replace the weird plastic ones that come on this cab, all new hardware. Best part for me was that I just used a bunch of credit card points I got from traveling for work to buy everything through Parts Express on Amazon. Thus, my net cost was $50 for the cab and another $60 to have the one speaker reconed by Orange County. All the tolex, hardware, etc.. cost me nothing out of pocket. Oh yea, the logo I bought off a guy on Reverb for like $30.
The G12-K100's in this thing are great. Just crazy volume but also amazing punch to them. I cranked it up to max for about 10 seconds last weekend when my wife & kid were at the park about 500 yards away. They came back and asked me if I turned the amp on cause they heard it perfectly at the park. Sorry neighbors!
I also got the OR15 from JeffB for a great deal. Great dealing with him by the way. My other amp is Blues Jr. w/ a Cannabis Rex. One of those green special run ones from ProGuitarShop from a few years back. Love it and it does amazing cleans and loves pedals. The OR15 is totally different. Insane gain but not in an icepicky way at all. It sounds really full and it's hard to find a bad setting. Plus you get the effects loop and 7/15watt settings to pick your poison. It really helps fill a gap that the Blues Jr. doesn't do. Running the OR through the new cab is awesome. For such a gain monster it still sounds sweet and not harsh. I just re-read that sentence and it sounds ridiculous but it's true.
