Thots on the Analogman King of Tone?

Re: Thots on the Analogman King of Tone?

Well I just put myself on the waiting list. Now I have about a year to find a bluesbreaker and then I'll settle this dispute once and for all!

*insert maniacal cackling*

Well like I said earlier: 96% of the DNA in a Chimpanzee and in a Human Being is exactly the same.

That last 4% that's different makes a HUGE difference. :cool2:

It's absolutely true. I've been looking for a new dirt pedal for quite a while so maybe the KoT is what I'm looking for. Now I just gotta find a way to contact other people on the list so I can find someone later who just wasn't able to have the cash ready when his number came up and trade my spot :)

Re: Thots on the Analogman King of Tone?

Christian (TGWIF) kindly gave up his place in line when he reached #1 with Analogman and gave that spot to me.

It was my birthday a couple of days ago and I had a couple of bucks in my wallet (a rarity these days...) so I ordered myself a KOT.

I like to gig through two amps. Usually two Deluxe Reverbs each with a Celestion 12. I like my tone but sometimes I can only turn them up to 4...maybe 5. That's still a little clean. Great for chords but kind of clean for solos.

The KOT seems to be the type of overdrive pedal I like: one where I can leave it on all the time and go from clean to overdrive with my guitar's volume knob.

I've used my old Boss DS-1 like that and liked it a lot for harder rock styles, and used my old Rat like that too. But both the Rat and the DS-1 have a little to much of a hard rock edge for my jazzy/blues playing and the KOT seems like it might work with my playing style better. I hope so!

Had a Zendrive for a while. Just not my thing. Works for some of my favorite players, like Robben Ford, but it wasn't right for me. Same thing with my TS-808. I like it but I don't want a pedal I have to stomp on when it's time for a solo. Don't like the abrupt change in sound. I like a pedal I can leave on.

I ordered the KOT with Mike's high gain mod on the red side. Left the other side stock.

Kind of wondering if I could adjust one side for my Strat and the other side for my ES-335?

I could plug my two guitars into my ART A/B/Y pedal and plug that into the KOT.

Just dreaming tho...you know how that goes. :scratchch When you get the device, then the fantasies end and you find out what it's really all about. :)

Cool to see you on here Lew!

Re: Thots on the Analogman King of Tone?

The KoT is for mature players who want something more subtle. It's probably not for metal players although Brad Whitford uses one for Aerosmith type hard rock tones.

I think James Hetfield from Metallica has one on his pedalboard as well.

And forgot to say it... I'm so glad to see you back on the board my friend!!

Re: Thots on the Analogman King of Tone?

Are you set up to make clips??

I've got several condenser microphones of reasonable quality, several amps to choose from and access to plenty of different guitars. I've got Pro Tools 8 and a background in studio audio engineering. I could make clips. Problem is getting hold of the proper pedals.

If you get hands on a V1 Bluesbreaker and feel up to the challenge drop me a lone...I'd be willing to send you my KoTv4 HG for you to do clips...

I'll hate being w/o it but I'd love to put the BB=KoT junk I read on the web and I'm not set up to do clips and I got rid the old BB pedal I had...

If this interests you get hands on the V1 BB and drop me line...

Will do, just gotta track down an old V1 BB. There's on on eBay but it's still got a couple of days left and I don't really have the spare cash at the moment, but I'll let you know if I come across one. Gonna do some looking around and see if I know anyone that has one too. I've got some friends that are vintage gear hoarders.
