Im looking at picking this amp up. I use to own a spider 3 50 watt and I really enjoyed it. For the price and what i've read it seems like this amp would be a great purchase. If anyone has this amp or has any feedback at all regarding the amp let me know. If you would like to recommend something else in the same price range feel free to post. Thanks!!!

Yeah for around the same price the Valvetronix stuff sounds like twice as good.

i havent played it yet - i know you had to go up in power on the IV line to get the newest features .. the smaller IVs didnt share the same processing engine as the larger ones ... TGP has several threads about the IVs ... good luck

If you're just looking for a practice amp, I wouldn't spend as much.

The Spider series is good for just that, in my opinion. I've got a Spider III and while I like it lots for figuring out what I want to do--I would never ever use it. My Laney just sounds too good.

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

Spider 4 is better than the Spider 3. But I'd choose a Vox Valvetronix over the Line6 amps.

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

I would recomend you get a vox instead. They are tons better than the spiders but just go to your music store and try both of the amps out.

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

The Spider has pretty good mids compared to most everything else in its class.

It is pretty easy to get to a few stores and find a Cube, a Vox, a Vypyr and a Spider to try out. Most stores will have at least 1 of the 4 and many stores will have 2 or more of the 4 to try out.

Those are the easy amps to test drive. They are pretty much everywhere.

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

From what I tried, the Vox Valvetronix is quite a nice amp. I played a lot with one of my friend's and it is simply an awesome little amp. I like the fact that is has tubes so it sounds a bit more real. Plus, there is a bunch of effects built in that are really nice.

I have a Roland Cube 30 and I really am enjoying it. It is solid state, but the clean channel is very nice and clean and the distortions are ok. You don,t have a lot of nice effetcs.

The Spider is the one I like the less. I liked the 75 watt one with the fancy song presets at the shop, the distortions are a lot of fun, but man, The clean from these amp is UGLY. The effetcs don't sound really good either.

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

I'm going to recommend the Roland Cube modeling amps. I sure love my Micro Cube. The Roland Micro Cube is the best little modeler I've ever played through. Most bang for the buck too, IMO.

For $100 shipped on Ebay you could get a Micro Cube like mine and I'm sure you'd love it. Might be the best $100 a guitar player could spend. They're that good.

Orianthi digs hers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKHthNMoMzA And sounds great through it. :) Looks great too! ;)

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

I agree with everybody here. The Vox Valavetronix amps are the best way to go if you want modeling. I have used a little 15 watt one in the studio a few times. Very cool amp. It may not have loopers, built in tracks or a tuner. But when it comes to tone, it whups the Line 6 amps easily.

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

Thanks for the input guys. I may actually turn round and spend a little less and go for a 30 watt amp. Like i said earlier ive always been a huge fan of the spider series. But again im always looking to improve my sound especially with the clean tone. So i'll give the vox a try next time i go the shop. I'll keep you guys posted thanks again

Re: Thought on the Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watts

Here in Duncan land - Vox Valvetronix gets the most love, followed by the Roland Cube. After that we jump right to Splawn and Celtic....
