Three P-Rail wiring

I am putting 3 P-rails into an SG copy, but the wiring part of it is doing my head in.
I have 3 DPDT on-on-on mini toggle switches to split the pickups. Has anyone attempted this and if so do you have a wiring diagram? I am going to use 3 mini on-off switches to select each pickup rather than a rotary or normal toggle. Any help REALLY appreciated.

cheers, Nick

Re: Three P-Rail wiring

What modes are you wanting to create with the P-Rails...series/split/parallel, P-90/series/Rail, P-90/parallel/Rail, series/P-90/parallel...?

With your switch setup you will not be able to access all of the P-Rails' modes (series, parallel, P-90, Rail). You need to decide what you want.

My suggestion would be to eliminate the DPDT switches and just mount the P-Rails in Triple Shot mounting rings. You will end up with a cleaner looking guitar, simpler to use, and be able to access all of the goodness that you can get from the P-Rails.

Re: Three P-Rail wiring

i suggest 3 Triple Shot pickup rings!

one problem you should consider is placing the P90 at equal distance from each other, in other words all three should be oriented the same way. then you must consider the RWRP of each coil in the center position.

sorry to complicate it more

maybe consider a StagMag in the middle?

Re: Three P-Rail wiring

thanks for the info guys, I didn't really want the triple shots to be honest as I wanted the look of the switches :) I'll start drawing up a wiing diagram and go from there.
all much appreciated...

Re: Three P-Rail wiring

You can have all four modes if you will use two toggles of the 2-position 3 pole type.

Re: Three P-Rail wiring

This is a wiring diagram I found to emulate Triple Shot mounting rings with a pair of SPDT on/on switches. Only problem is you'd need six switches to access all modes on all three P-Rails.

Nop, you don't. use a 3 pole toggle (twice)> that means you'll be putting all three prails in the same mode simultaneously (so no p90 side in the middle + series neck + parallel bridge, for example), but that would, should, make it for a much easier ride.

Or.... find an 8 pole 4 position rotary switch and do the exact same thing, but under a rotary switch. easy as apple pie.

Re: Three P-Rail wiring

Yeah, you'd need 3 rotaries of that configuration to do it. BUT...he said he wants the look of the toggle switches. And with only double throw toggles, you'd need 2 per pup - that's 6 switches. In addition, you need a pickup selector switch. Not a very practical setup.

I still say Triple Shots are your best answer. If you like the looks of toggles, just add a half dozen "dummy" switches to look cool.
