Allright, so my style has taken a turn. My writing is in kinda of southern hard rock with touches of metal and 70s euro hard rock vibe now. Basically , I am in the land of this strange mix of Billy Gibbons, Tony Iommi, George Lynch and Rickey Medlocke. I am happy so far with my Invader in the bridge but I am open to ideas. My amp is Laney AOR with EL34Ls to be switched for KT77s with a hot bias, my cab is a Marshall 1960A 4X12 GT12-75 (to be changed eventually for V30s with G12H-30 in X pattern) I use Spina TS9, and plan to get Analogue Man Bueno boost. Fire away girls!

Get a neck Invader & wire them in parallel. Trust me.

Just throw a JB in there, roll with it, and hammer out the details when you get time.

JB ? hmm did not expect to hear that one .... really? I had a PGP before, isnt it very close to a 59? It was a little too low out put for me, maybe I should try it again ... P-90, a real PAF or a duncan version? As far as wiring a neck invader, I am a single coil kinda guy when in comes to neck, strat. Is it possible to wire Invader paralles with a single coil?

Dr Mavashi do you have myspace or anything? would be very interesting to hear you play throu your guitar rig :)
Have you looked at a Alnico 2 pro for the neck?
I always thought that singlecoils are to thin.

Not yet, we just had our first writing session in the direction that I've described in this thread. Our first full band session is scheduled for sunday. So, if it takes off you will definately hear it. I will try to do some work on my Laney before we refcord, but eventually I wanna experiment with pups, hence the thread.

definitely get some kinda PAF in the neck, that'll cover your gibbons and iommi

Hello. I'm usually just a "reader only" on this forum, but you I share the same style. I have tried a lot of different pickups and never found one that did all I wanted it to, a few came close but not quite. On a whim, I purchased a Dean "Mountain of Tone" Leslie West signature series pickup. I was floored. I installed it in my Edwards LP custom and it sounds amazing. It really suits my style completely. I've custom ordered one in gold for my Gibson '68 Custom reissue. Anyway, I've always been a loyal Duncan user and still use '59's in the neck, but the "MOT" maybe worth a try.

I'd say alt 8 for you my friend. It will do the harder stuff like the Invader but will handle the 70's stuff a lot better.

Rowan, alt 8 are fairly a new release of from duncan right? not a lot of people spent time with it yet, am I right?

I second the Alt 8 or a Custom with a mag swap to the A-8. I need to get my hands on an Alt 8 myself for my Purple MG 122. I have A-8's in a couple of Customs and a JB right now and origionally had a pair of the Crazy 8's.
A-8 is unique as it has a lot of the warmth that comes with normal Alnico but has the quick response of Ceramic + is more articulate and better ballanced than any other Alnico mag.
I have been an A-8 user for years and did not know it with the old Ibanez Super 70 pickups. FYI that is what was in the Ibanez Destroyer that Eddie Van Halen used on a lot of the clips on VH-1 and 2. He borrowed a stock Destroyer from Chris Holms of WASP due to hacking his Destroyer up into the "shark" guitar and killing the tone. The Alt 8 is perfect for the spectrum of tones you are looking for.

Hmm .... I've listened to custom .... itsve very precise and cut through, but to my ears its very cold, no creamy warmth at all ...

Try the Custom anyway. You might really like it. It was Seymour's answer to a beefed up PAF. And if you think it isn't what you want, learn to swap magnets out to something like a II, 5, or 8. The 14.4K wind is what Seymour and Gibson both think is ideal for a hot humbucker, that's wound right up to the point before it compresses.

I would say Custom bridge also. It does have a just a touch of that "ceramic edge", but it is far creamier than any Gibson 'bucker I have heard.

Second choice would be a JB if the Custom didn't do it for you. The JB still a bit of an edge, but the A5 does sounds a little more friendly.
