You could just make it a lot easier on yourself and send the second body to me! :fing2:

That headstock fits the body shape. I was afraid you'd go with an upturned banana headstock. Two dikks on a guitar is just too much! :chairfall

not to hijack this thread: how much truoil do i need for all maple neck? there are 3 ounce bottles on the market

I've been watching videos lately of guys finishing bodies with tru oil, and they barely even went through 1/5 of the bottle I'd say. I just bought a 3 oz bottle, and it seems like it would be more than enough to finish a couple of bodies, a ccouple of necks, and probably have more than 1/2 of the bottle left over.

Yeah, it doesn't take much Tru-Oil. FWIW, you can usually buy it in sporting goods stores in the gun section if you don't want to mail order.

I farted around and re-dyed my blue one.

Here are some pics of it outside.





Then I came back inside and threw a light coat of Tru oil on it. I took it outside real quick and took a few pics of it with the Tru Oil on it. After that I brought it back inside, and placed it in a closet to do it's thing for 24 hours or so.

So, here's what's going to happen with the purple one.

maple neck
gold bridge and tailpiece.
gold tuners
gold output jack
gold Duncan Blackouts
white pickup surrounds
white tip on toggle switch.
either gold speed knobs, gold knurled knobs, or gold knurled knobs with white tops


Now, I've been contemplating on the blue one. I'm not sure which way I want to go with it. Help me out with these two choices.

maple neck
chrome/nickel bridge and tailpiece
chrome/nickel tuners
chrome/nickel output jack
chrome/nickel pickup surrounds
white pickups
white toggle switch tip
chrome/nickel knurled knobs or chrome/nickel knurled knobs with white tops

OR

Maple neck
black chrome bridge and tailpiece
black chrome tuners
black chrome output jack
Black chrome pickup surrounds
black chrome Fishman Fluence Modern Pickups
Black toggle switch tip
Black chrome knurled volume and tone knob
Black dpdt switch for Fishman pickups.


I'm thinking about the latter. One of the main reasons is just so I don't have to buy any more pickups....lol. I think the white pickups would look great on on the blu one along with the chrome, but I'm really feeling the whole all black thing.

Wow, that shade of blue really came alive with the Tru Oil. Aged nickel hardware would look sick on the blue one.
Gold on purple always works.

The funny thing is that's usually how it looks right after I dye it. When it dries it looks like the before pics. I'm wondering if it will do the same with the Tru Oil. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. It really doesn't matter to me. I like the way it looks both ways.

I've had the same 2, 3oz bottles of Truoil since 2010/11... (I got one at the hardware store, and my Dad picked me up one at the gun store pretty much the same week) I still have some of them left after doing many necks and a couple bodies. One bottle will take you very far.
And that body looks AWESOME!

Yeah, but since it's being custom made by Warmoth it probably won't be here for another 3-4 weeks. And I really have no problem with that.

The first one that I will be assembling will be the purple one. All I have to do with it is take a razor, scrape the dye off of the white binding, Tru Oil it, and then take it to my buddy to have the neck placed on, pickups wired, and all that other sh!t. So, the 3-4 weeks leaves me plenty of time to get stuff done. I'm really looking forward to getting them up and rockin'!!

SO it may be at least a month and a half before the Purple on is complete, maybe 3 months before the blue one is complete. The only reason I did some Tru Oil on the blue one today is because it happened to be the closest one to me when I grabbed it to scrape the dye off of the white binding...lol
