Now that the purple one is more of a magenta, I'm leaning away from gold, and back toward black hardware/pickups, with white rings. Chrome top to bottom on the blue one, IMO. It's not my guitar though.....just envisioning it based on your pics.

i am oiling a body atm to. Up to my forth coat. Just taking it easy trying to do it while looking after kids.

I have a good idea for the final coats. When i spray guitars with acrylic i always finish with a thinned down version of the clear. I thought why not do the same with the oil by adding in some mineral spirits.
I'm doing a guitar at the moment jolly so if it works i will let you know.

I read on Birchwood-Casey's website where it said it was fine to do that. It just takes a little longer to dry.

I tell ya what.......just steel wooled it down, and threw coat #6 or whatever on it.
Mo fo looks badass already here in person.
