Last time i used tru oil i mixed stain directly into some oil and started applying the first coats like that. You can tint/stain it with oil based tube art paint and it works a treat.

Honestly, I like what the Tru Oil is doing, and I can see where it is going, but I'm not really sure if I'm completely down with it. I've got 10 cans of aerosol nitro, I may just give that a go, and read a sh!t ton about wet sanding and all that crap.

Why? Not shiny enough? Man you have to build that **** up it goes on way thin. you can get a great finish with it but you have to lightly sand between coats once you get it built up. You can also cut and polish it.

I used a cutting compound and some elbow grease once i got enough coats on. This wasn't even finished when i took the video but i think its good enough. On a guitar body like yours i can see how you would want it more factory style.

I completely sanded both guitars down, and started over. This is the blue one after only three coats of tru oil. I'm about to steel wool it, and then put on another light coat.

Crappy cell phone pic, but you get the idea. I went with the Keda powdered dye this time in royal blue. I finally, after a million times it seems, got it to the color that I've been struggling to get.

Thanks, brother. I'm still undecided on what I'm going to do hardware wise. I originally thought chrome, then I thought black, now I'm leaning back to chrome with white pickup rings, white toggle tip and chrome covered pickups with no holes.

Oh yeah, and I completely changed the purple one. I sanded it down last night and dyed it kind of a magenta color. It really makes the dark purple flames pop now. The two purples kind of contradict each other, and everything stands out more. It's going to have gold hardware with white pickup rings and white toggle switch tip.

The reason I redid it was because I saw this Jackson, and I was like.........THAT"S IT!! That's what I want. So I tried to get similar to it.

This is it after I re-stained/re-dyed it. I'm going to scrape the binding on it here in a few, and then put some Tru Oil on it. Hopefully it will look pretty good!!
