Re: To all amp Builders. Why hasnt anyone built an amp with a built in Dummyload/power
Yes, and that's where the 5% comes in. Obviously there are people who actually need amps that loud ... I'm just saying that the vast majority of people who buy them don't, and I think we agree on this point.
Okay, well if you want to turn this in to a "I've played bigger venues than you" contest, you'll probably win, and I don't really give a **** ... but thanks for pointing out what I already knew about PA's in large venues, and yes, I have experienced this from time to time. I probably should have said MOST large venues will want to mic your amp, my apologies for the misunderstanding.
Wow, you didn't have to be such an *******. For the record, I HAVE played large gigs (500+ people, but maybe you don't consider that large), so spare me the "I'm more pro than you" attitude please. I have never gigged with anything bigger than a 40W combo (except one time when I rented a DSL 100W half stack), and I have NEVER heard comments from ANYONE, pros or casual fans, that our live sound was bad. I'll admit that I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to live sound, but I have had the good fortune to work with sound techs that really do know their stuff. Maybe I'm just lucky that way, I don't know.
I am willing to concede that if the live sound is crap, then the band needs to step up and fill it in, but that is still no excuse for your bull**** attitude. I respect your knowledge and experience on many subjects, but the second you want to pull a prima donna stunt like this again, my respect for you goes straight down the crapper. I don't care if you're Eddie Van Halen: there is no excuse for a post like yours.

but not everybody is a bedroom rockstar or weekend bluesist... Some of us have to play gigs to thousands of people, sometimes open air, and often with a crappy PA.. and that´s exacty where those 100W are sometimes barely enough![]()

BTW, NOT every large venue has a PA, especially not necessarily a good one that can be trusted to amplify a full band without going comatose.... You may want to play a few large venues before making such generalizations... that´s part of why most bands at some time buy their own![]()

?? You´re kidding, right??? So if YOUR show sounds like ****, andeverybody pisses on you afterwards becasue of it, it´s the soundman´s fault?? This is by far the most umprofessional thing I´ve ever heard short of Ashlee Simpson´s SNL "excuses".... :smack:
It does shed much light on where the original argument about 100w +/- stems. from, though... from people thinking exactly this way instead of like a performer as they should.... this is not a day job on an assembly like where everyone has his job and is trained to do it well and consistently.... this it the music industry, where half of the people you talk to are talking out their ass, another quarter are just plain stupid, and the last 25% know something that ay be of value.... and more importantly where Murphy reigns supreme....![]()
