Custom Custom or the Custom Shop Lil Pearly Gates that I have in my '77 strat. ;)

Whoa! what's this Lil Pearly Gates? I havn't heard of it before. Tell me about it please.

Custom Custom, Little '59 if you want to go the little bucker route, or an Air Zone (I know it's DiMarzio but it sounds killer in a Strat).

It's an alnico II loaded Lil' humbucker that's wound to 11.8k.

It's pretty big and full and balances well with the APS-2's in the neck and middle.

Custom Custom. It's going back in mine. Wonderful pickup.

Wait, its not a ceramic like the other Lil' buckers?

I use the JB in my Ash bodied strat w/maple fretboard. As long as you use 250K pots it's not too bright and is a killer pickup. It may be a little hot for your tastes...but I think it's great.

I also like the Custom 5 in that Strat.

They're both cool, but different vibe...the C5 has more "growl" on the low end, where the JB "sings" a little more. Neither are too bright.

Re: To all of you fender strat with maple neck owners!!!!

If you use 250K pots in your guitar almost any paf style humbucker will sound alot warmer than usual because most full size humbuckers HB's are designed to be used with 500K pots...not 250K.

So the 59B, Custom, JB would all be great choices, IMO, and have a warm tone if you're going to use the stock 250K pots that come stock in a Strat.

The Custom Custom is beautiful sounding pickup with 500K pots and I have one in a single bridge humbucker Strat. But I wouldn't use it with 250K pots.

The JB with 250K pots is warmer and has less treble, BTW, than the Custom Custom has with 500K pots.

If you don't want bright then DONT get the Custom (sh-5 or tb-5)

I think the Custom with a 250K pot would be fine for a guy who wants a warmer tone than normal.

With a 500K pot it'll be brighter...but not to bright. And he's probably going to use it with 250K pots which will throw away some treble.

I have a Custom in two Strats...sounds great to me, and I use them with 500K pots.

Re: To all of you fender strat with maple neck owners!!!!

I currently have JB Jr in mine, I dig it but I think it could benefit from some tone control to help roll off the highs.
I'm really thinking of changin the pickguard, routing it out and puting a full sized CC in there...... Either that or go wth a SSL3
Good luck in your Quest!!

Re: To all of you fender strat with maple neck owners!!!!

I have tb-5 in mine with 250k pots and its fairly bright...then again the settings on my amp help that aand I like the bright tone to it.
