Tokai PAF..anyone know anything about 'em?

I got the original Tokai MKII PAFs that were in my LS75 when I bought the axe. Seller on Ebay stated them as being way too "hot" and why he put the 57 classics in the guitar. But I've never heard the Tokai's before.

Anyone have any experience with them? I'm curious if I should give them a try sometime, or send 'em out for a rewind.

Overall, they don't get that good press here in Finland where Tokai is quite popular. I think that either the lower (mkII or I) or the higher named pickups are considered "okay". I think that the higher end Tokais come with SDs as stock.

Right, although the one I've tested besides the old Tokai '57 PAF is the new MKII made by Keiyo, not the standard MKII by Gotoh. But since the seller described them as "too hot", it's probably the 11.5 kOhm version that I tested. I also think it's a good one, and you can always adjust them a bit lower than a normal PAF if you get too much gain and/or treble out of it.
