Re: Tom Morello

And how exactly did Mr. Morello acquire his ticket into the Ivy League?

Please, by all means - regale us.

I will certainly share whatever knowledge I do or don't get. All I know personally is that if daddy don't got $$, you better have brains.

He graduated at the top of his HS class, so he had brains. Since he didn't have $$$, I'm guessing some sort of scholarship was involved.

Dan Wilson and Jake Slichter from Semisonic met at Harvard around that same time and neither was from a rich family. Maybe times were different in the early 80s?

No, you just have to have patience for paperwork. Even if you burn 5 copies. I never graduated HS; got GED and started college at age 26. Figured 10 years of waitressing was P.L.E.N.T.Y. But I still had to do it. You know, tuition, house, cars, Harleys . . . .I did it though, and it's something no one can ever take away from me. Started second degree at age 31. . . ok, i'm proud enough . . .

Re: Tom Morello

This is the most empathic, whacko website ever. . .
Get's really old hearing "off topic" "off topic". That's just not the way us weirdos think. This place is great for free thinkers. Some half-assed guitarists, too.

How do you know he (or his mom, or any other family members) didn't have $$$?

I think people assume that just because someone is supposedly "underprivileged", that automatically means they have no $$$, nor do any of their family members.

Furthermore, calling someone who doesn't have one of their parents, "underpriviledged" (without knowing the facts) is a bit of a stretch. That one parent might be rolling in $$$.

If they didn't have both parents, then absolutely.

I hate the words "underprivileged" and "less fortunate" for all that they imply.

Re: Tom Morello

I hate all the political/socioeconomic bull**** on this form. But I guess we can’t always get what we want, can we?

All I know is that I'm "underprivileged" and "less fortunate" than the majority of the people with a platform to bemoan all the underprivileged and less fortunate ...

:D

Re: Tom Morello

No. But if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need.

And if that were true for me, it would be true for everybody, wouldn’t it?

Just tired of the devisive horse**** distracting people from gear and music.

Re: Tom Morello

Then everyone else can also ignore what they don’t like, instead of complaining about it.

Sure. If they want to.
Or, they can complain about it.
Or, argue over it.
Or, report it to admin and then continue to either ignore it, complain about it or argue it while waiting on admin to delete the post and / or close the thread.

So we’re still just a bunch of tossers mainly doing whatever we want.

Re: Tom Morello

I've never been a big fan of trying to control people and what they have to say... in general.

"Conversation fascists" need to just let people talk... that's what people do.

Plus, nobody is forcing anyone to read anything... there's a million other discussions going on.

The freedom to pick and choose what they want to hear (or read) is everyone's right.

I mostly agree...however it speaks to a larger movement that is happening in all of society.

Nobody gives a sh!t about the rules and everybody just does whatever they want with no reguard for anybody but themselves.
It happens here when people don’t follow the forum rules governing particular topics, it happens in traffic when nobody gives a sh!t that a red light means stop. Or their faces are buried in Facebook while driving even though the state has laws against handheld devices.
I could go on and on...
It’s all contributing to the worsening of society and I don’t see it getting better any time soon.

Sorry....didn’t mean to rant but...
