I agree scale length isn't the most important determinant of tone, but extra string tension certainly affects the sound as well as the feel.
That ¾" of difference between 24" and 24¾" is as big as the scale difference between 24¾" on a Les Paul and 25½" on a Strat or Tele.
IMO that's likely to be pretty noticeable when it come to tone.
