Hi, does anyone have any experience with those pickups? More specifically i would love to know how they compare to SD Custom Customs? Are they similar? Its really hard to get the SH11 with a good price where im located at so im considering cheaper alternatives.

Re: Tonerider Rocksong

I have no experience with the Rocksong, or the custom custom. But I’m a big fan of tonerider pickups. I’ve never been disappointed by any of them. Imho they’re the best budget pickups around.

Re: Tonerider Rocksong

I have used all the tonerider pickups except the octane. However I have not used the CC so I cannot compare.

My take on the rocksongs is the bridge is a juiced up PAF but not overly so. The neck is just a touch warmer to match the bridge, but I prefer the Alnico ii classics. Alnico 2 is Alnico 2 so that character is there across all these pickups.

Re: Tonerider Rocksong

My honest opinion is that will you probably not be able to tell the difference. Possibly your dog might.

I base this opinion on the following experience.

Possibly my favourite guitar is my 2006 Washburn Idol 166 PRO .This came stock with a CC bridge and 59 neck. See pic

A buddy has the 2005 166V which is identical except for having a trem and coming with BG pups as stock. About 11 years ago these were changed to a Rocksong bridge and a Tonerider A4 in the neck. Both uncovered. Subtle difference in the necks when played clean. Otherwise nowt. Of course our hearing may not now be as sensitive as some. Plus these pickups are not in the first flush of youth and may have lost something over the years.

I hope this helps
