Too Many Guitars

I admit it I've got too many. How many you ask well.....

1) Grosh Electrajet
2) Gibson LP Standard
3) Gibson LP Classic
4) SG Standard
5) Tele Thinline Reissue
6) Washburn DD-75
7) Gibson Explorer
8) Gretsch Duo Jet
9) Gretsch 6120
10) Washburn Silverado
11) Washburn Laredo
12) Gibson ES-355

The 6120 is vintage '66 and will be buried with me. The ES is a '79 and a real fine example from a bad time in history. LPs aren't going anywhere, nor is the Duo Jet. Grosh is a real keeper too.

I think I can live without the SG and DD-75, no problem. I've longed for a thinline since I was a kid so I can't see giving up on her.

The two other Washburns are Grover Jackson era and really nice vintage style repros that I got for a song.

Anybody got any comments they'd like the share?

Re: Too Many Guitars

I would have to move. There isn't room in my place for many more. I'd like to get down to around 8 but the decision making is kinda hard

"Too Many Guitars"

Individually, I know what each of those words mean.

Taken together, though, they lose all meaning. I have no idea if such a concept is possible.

Re: Too Many Guitars

Maybe it has something to do with my family but I think it's more to do about clutter. I'd prefer to be able to keep all my stuff in one room and that's getting harder to do. As it is most of the cases are in the attic. I have four amps (all heads and cabs) and half of them sit in my rehearsal space.

So my plan is to consign my SG and DD-75 (I had these listed for sale here and on CL with no luck). I have one cabinet for sale as well and it may make it's way to the same shop.

Re: Too Many Guitars

Hmmm, Ok so that's your ready rack.

How many total with closets, storage, mother's basement etc?

Re: Too Many Guitars

My problem is I am running out of places to leave my guitar.

I should leave my guitars like how some people leave guns in their homes - for emergencies. One guitar in a cupboard, two in the closet, a few hanging on every wall in the house, under the beds and sofa, in the pantry, one in each bathroom etc.

Seymour's Facebook page had the correct advice for you:

Re: Too Many Guitars

man, i was doing ok with 3, now with 5 sometimes i feel bad, cuz still only 2 gets abused regularly. (code for i could buy other sh!t with the extra 2)

Re: Too Many Guitars

When I had 23 or so, I hardly ever played. I'd get paralyzed with anxiety over which one to play. No joke. Most of them weren't maintained properly; they were always dusty, old strings, out of tune. Now there's a lot less choice, but I cover more musical ground with each instrument. And I play better, too.

YMMV.
