Took the leap and ordered IEMs

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

Thanks!
Just ordered a pair of he musicians series. On sale $12.22 with free shipping.
How are you liking your cheap IEMs?

Picked them up today. They fit great, and are the best sounding things I've had around my ears, ever. I only did a few small tests with my guitar rig, and I won't get a chance to try them with my system for a few weeks as the next several shows are festivals, so we are not using our system. So the preliminary findings are good so far. We'll see how it goes.

And how are you liking your fancy ones?

Tbh, I haven’t tried them yet!!
My other band mates use them and my soundboard only has 2 monitor sends and they are already using them.

I’ll try them this Tuesday at rehearsal and report back.

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

Well, the fancy ones are life-changing, really. I can hear everything in stereo very clearly. There is no onstage volume other than the drums, and we have never sounded better out front. And man, they are really comfortable. So, I am pretty happy with them.

That's my biggest problem with IEMs and personal monitors, I have no idea what is coming out of the FOH. It's really hard when you are rolling back on your volume and trying to be dynamic, I have no idea where I am in the mix.

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

Well, we depend on a sound person, or at least me with a wireless system, and a long enough soundcheck without them in (and me standing in the front). The lack of volume coming off the stage makes it a breeze to mix, and the separation has never been better.

Awesome, I'm curious :)

That's great to hear, thanks for reporting back.

Which model are these?

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

Well, I figure, it is like buying an amp. Nice powered FRFR speakers form y Fractal would easily be as much, and still present too much stage volume, which would cause mixing issues out front.

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

The AFR3 is stellar as well, they make good stuff.

And the guitar actually sounds like a guitar with these?

I think I had mentioned earlier in this thread....my issue with the IEM’s I have tried in the past is that the guitar sounds like crap. Granted I was using the entry level Shure monitors then. But that experience has left me wary.

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

If you have several drivers in each ear, it is amazing. I haven't tried them with an actual amp, though- I use a Fractal plugged direct into the PA which has an amazing sound to begin with.

Re: Took the leap and ordered IEMs

So, last Tuesday night I tried to test out my cheapie IEM’s....I’m not sure what happened but my old PSM 400 sh*t the bed it seems.
All I got was a deafening buzzing.
Looks like I’ll need to look into something else.
