might be a bit too early to ask this since i just got this amp working on friday, came in doa with a broken tube, had to pay 15 bucks gor a crappy mesa boogie tube, but the 15bucks came free from musicians friends. anyways...

i love the amp, the cleans are absolutely perfect, could be a bit warmer though. the od i feel defenantly needs to be warmer. i hear jj/tesla el34's do the trick amazingly well. i was also recommended SED el34's. what tubes would you recommend that makes the amp a bit warmer?

I've been looking ta these Traynors for a long time.... do you find it is noisy at all when on higher gain settings?

they're incredibly quiet at high gain. quieter than most tube amps even twice the price.

I'm not really a tube connosieur, but you look familiar.

I just go for Electro-Harmonix tubes because they have that cool lion character stamped on them.

It's dead quiet when my computer's not on (which, unfortunately, is not often, as my computer is where I play my music, record, tabs and all that jazz)

Re: traynor 50blue tube change

I ended up putting in all JJ's and had good results. I tried JJ E34L's (slightly different than EL34) as well. They seemed to smooth everything out a little more. I really didn't think the stock tubes were horrible or anything, but a change can make a subtle improvement. I bought one of the retube sets from Eurotubes.

The EQ is really responsive on the amp, especially the mids. Also, dialing in the correct amount of gain, channel volume, and master level can be tricky, since its alot to dial in, so make sure you spend enough time tweaking it. I find it easiest to dial in everything with the boost on first.

Re: traynor 50blue tube change

my settings are pretty simple, i have the volume on 5 for both eq's and than have the master volume on 5, and reverb on 3

my clean is as follows, Bass: 9, Mid: 3, Treble: 5 1/2

my od is Bass: 9, Mid: 7, Treblle: 6 gain: 6

the clean sounds really good, the od still sounds a bit bright for my taste, but its still amazing. i hope the tube change will do a bit difference.

Re: traynor 50blue tube change

I've heard people describe JJ preamp tubes as being dark, so that may help. I can't really remember how different it sounded on mine. I do know that I had to re-eq the amp afterwards.

Here's my current settings:

CH1: G 5 V 5.5 T 6 B 7 M 6.5 CH2: V 4 T 7 B 7 M 6 M 3.5 R 4.5

I tend to change my setting periodically becuase my tastes change every once and a while. The drive channel is a little bright, but I play alot with the boost on and that adds tons of low end and mids. I'd love to be able to get the master up higher, but unfortuatly, I live in an apartment. It may sound a little less bright to me, since I have the master lower.

ch 1 is cean annd 2 is od??

Other way around. Channel 1 is OD, channel 2 is clean. I don't know why they do it like but its the opposite of most amps.
