Re: Trembuckers in angled pocket?
Before trembuckers were around, putting a humbucker in a Strat with vintage spaced (meaning wider) bridges put the strings way off from the poles. Angling them was the only way to get things lined up. If you look at EVH's Frankenstein, you can see the bridge pickup is angled a bit to get the poles to line up as much as possible. It does do the trick. Then, Kramer came along and did the same thing with a couple of their models and the rest is history. Now, with the spacing on the newer 2-point Trems on Strats, the poles do line up much better even when straight. But vintage 6-screw trems have a wider spacing and this whole angled thing came to be before the narrower bridges came along.
