Tremolo Pedals

Hey guys.

I'm thinking about getting a Tremolo pedal for when I can afford to build my new pedalboard and just wondered which 1's you guys would recommend I check out?

The 3 I'm considering at the minute are:

Marshall VT1 Vibratrem
Electro Harmonix Pulsar
BOSS TR2 Tremolo

I'm not looking for any super high end or expensive Tremolo pedal, as it's not an effect I can envisage using all that much.

Also, I'll be using the pedal in a pedal loop, so it'll be out of the signal path when I'm not using it. So I don't mind if it's not true bypass :)

Thanx for any suggestions.

Re: Tremolo Pedals

The boss tremolo pedal will cut your sound a bit when you click it on, which can be a real piss off if you want to use it for a solo or somthing, the marshall tremolo pedal will slightly boost your signal . . . which can also be a piss off if you want the levels to be the same before and after you click the pedal on. I ended up getting the vt-1 because it has that vibrato feature (which I use for a couple of floyd tunes) and because it was cheaper.

Thanx for your post :)

What do you like about the VT1? I know you mention it boosts the volume slightly, but how is it in other aspects?

Thanx for your comments :)

Re: Tremolo Pedals

Im very happy with the Danelectro AC-1 Wasabi Chorus-Trem. Not rock-solid built but sufficient if treated with care. Sounds good, no noise and switching on both effect sounds soooo coooool

Thanx for the posts guys.

I've heard of the Voodoo Labs Trem, but not actually seen 1 in person. I've never heard of the AC-1 Wasabi Chorus Tremolo. Care to share anymore info about either of these pedals?

Thanx for your opinions guys :)

Re: Tremolo Pedals

I A/B'd the Voodoo Lab with the Fulltone Supa-Trem. I ended up buying the Fulltone. It's not the cheapest way to go, though it really does sound great.

Re: Tremolo Pedals

i played the boss one & liked it, but that's really the only trem pedal i've used besides the ones in the POD xtl

Re: Tremolo Pedals

I own the Boss one.... i dig it.... it could be louder i guess but it is still great for the money!!!!! It has a setting that makes the power turn ON/OFF and i have been wanting to try it with some keyboards for that Who song Won't Get Fooled Again backing track... It also works great for copying the Who Tune Who Are You's backing track as well!!!

Thanx for the posts guys.

I may've found a deal on a BOSS Tremolo for £20, but I'll have to wait and see how it goes :)

Re: Tremolo Pedals

im not much of a fan when it comes to boss pedals. id go for the eh pulsar. you could save pennies and buy a wiggler. all electro-harmonix pedals are cool.

Re: Tremolo Pedals

As much as I dislike Boss pedals the Boss Tremolo is alright...I haveone and use it a good bit...there is volume drop when you turn it on but it does ok and for the price it's great.

The EH Pulsar is killer sounding and I liek it alot, the Fulltone is cool too. I had a Swamp Thang for a few days that was cool but was very touchy with the speed control Jim Dunlop also used to make a tremolo that is pretty cool...if you can get a deal on the Boss jump on it and try it out.

Good luck!

Re: Tremolo Pedals

Everything made by Electro Harmonix rules.

The coolest trem I've ever used (believe it or not) was one of those plastic Ibanez soundtank pedals.

Re: Tremolo Pedals

Thanx for the new posts guys.

I've been looking alot at the EH Pulsar. The video clip i've seen of it is good, and the LED flashes at the speed the pedal is set at :D

Someone on another forum has also suggested the Carl Martin Surf Trem. I looked into it and it's actually cheaper than both a new EH Pulsar and a new BOSS Tremolo. I may try and track 1 down for a trial :)

Re: Tremolo Pedals

I'm not terribly demanding from a tremolo pedal . . . all it has to do is make the volume quieter and louder and I'm happy. I think that the boss one and the marshall one both did a good job at that. Both pedals were very quiet too. I guess that what I liked the best was that the marshall pedal was cheaper.

Yeah, this is pretty much my opinion on the topic too :)

Yeah, they do and I've seen it has very good reviews but it's alot more than I want/need to spend ona Tremolo pedal at the minute :)
