Tremolo Pedals

Hey guys.

I'm thinking about getting a Tremolo pedal for when I can afford to build my new pedalboard and just wondered which 1's you guys would recommend I check out?

The 3 I'm considering at the minute are:

Marshall VT1 Vibratrem
Electro Harmonix Pulsar
BOSS TR2 Tremolo

I'm not looking for any super high end or expensive Tremolo pedal, as it's not an effect I can envisage using all that much.

Also, I'll be using the pedal in a pedal loop, so it'll be out of the signal path when I'm not using it. So I don't mind if it's not true bypass :)

Thanx for any suggestions.

Personally, I use the Boss TR-2. I've tried the other ones you mentioned, but I found this one was easier to use, yet still quite versitile, and it just seemed to sound generally nicer.

It does dip the volume a little, but not stupidly so. In fact, I find the volume dip "softens" the sound in a way that is appropriate for tremolo effect, though i may be at the risk of making the flaws sound like features :)

It's also a Boss, so you can drive over it and only damage your tyres.

Tom Morello, the king of effects, uses this pedal too, so it's ok by me ;)

Hey Dave, thanx for your reply.

I've read that you can solve the volume drop problem by clipping or removing the C4 Capacitor inside the pedal.

I may've found a good deal on a BOSS Tremolo, so I'll probably hold out and see what comes of that I think :)

Re: Tremolo Pedals

If you are not on a budget, try out the Electro Harmonix The Wiggler. Its the one with the tubes in it, but I was absolutely blown away by its tremolo and its range of intensity and speed. The thing sounded very warm and organic also, leaving a Fender Blackface's tremolo in the dust. It also has simulations of a Leslie, a Vox AC30 tremolo, a hammond rotating speaker and something else. Its not really a moddeling pedal, but it gives you a crap load of sounds including vibrato and the other stuff along with the tremolo. Just my 2 cents.

I'd heard about The Wiggler before, but I don't know anyone that has 1 nor any shops locally that may have 1 in stock for me to try out, which isn't a problem but I'd like to try 1 before buying. Especially for £125, which is kinda more than I wanted to spend anyway :smack:

Thanx for your suggestion

Hmm... I might just do that, I've been reading up about it and it sounds like an awesome mod. Why did they put that thing in there anyway?

You should definitely consider the boss tr-2 anyhow, I love mine, (temporary) flaws aside!

To be honest, I'm not sure why they put the C4 Capacitor in there!

I've managed to track down a TR2 for £20, so I think I'll be perfectly happy with that :)

I was looking at getting a vibrato/tremolo pedal and thought that the features of this pedal looked really good (I was going to start another thread but adding to this seemed a better idea). Do u actually own this pedal cos if u do can u post clips?
