I had a JP 7 string (I forget the model but it had an unfinished rosewood fretboard) and only sold it because I really wan't into 7 strings and I needed to fund a new amp =D. Fantastic guitar though! I'd love a 6 string version some day.

I’ve changed a lot of pickups in a lot of guitars, but have to say my Music Man is the one guitar I’ve never felt needed a mod! Granted, it’s HH with DiMarzio pickups (custom made, I think) - but every MM I’ve tried has sounded completely dialed in.

took your advice and ordered a '95 Silhouette $635@Reverb...like my guitars just a little on the trashy side...this one looks perfect...

I have a Sterling AX-40D and it's awesome. Great overall fit and finish plus the DiMarzio "Axis" pickups. Unless it's your main guitar and going to receive years upon years of abuse, I wouldn't say it's worth the upcharge to go USA for the regular Axis, in my opinion.

That said, if I could only own one guitar, it would probably be a JP15 or JP16 and I'd go USA all the way. The electronics in the USA versions of the JP series set them apart from the Sterling stuff, even though the Sterling JP models are really nice for the price! Plus, you know you're getting the absolute best attention to detail and overall playability on the USA models because EBMM puts a lot of pride into their USA stuff.

Agreed....what got me going on this to begin with was playing a sterling JP150...very impressive guitar right out of the box...then found this thread and got steered toward the Silhouette...figured if the JP50 was impressive this should be a blast...plus it looks well played, usually the sign of a good guitar...the bad ones sit in a closet...

There are so many things I like about the new Ernie Balls; they seem to get many aspects of making modern guitars right. I just wish they had more Floyded guitars, and in recessed Floyds.

Their own trems are really great, but I'm a Floyd fan, also.

Have you looked at the JP16? Recessed Floyd and all the JP goodies, including great pickups and the original dished forearm cutout. Just wish it had the JP15's awesome piezo system.

My biggest complaint is the absolute lack of color options on the JP16...what the heck is up with that, Ernie Ball?

I wish they had more color options all around. They seem to only have a few colors available at any given time, and switch them every year or so.

I wish the necks were wider, I love the sterling ax40 I have, but would kill for a wider neck that didn’t fret out right off the fretboard under light pressure.

The jp necks are about perfect, if only they came on the whole rest of the line I would buy a stingray rs or an axis tomorrow

They are fantstic! I love the roasted maple necks they've been using. Have been wanting a Musicman Luke III (HSS version). Either that or a strat as my next guitar!

The only thing that puts me off a bit is the battery haha. I love the idea that it has a boost but there's something about having to have a battery in the guitar that my mind just can't get along with. Having to replace it and all that jazz. I think I would maybe ditch the battery and use the push-push knob to split the humbucker.

But yeah, as has been said time and time again, they really do make top-shelf perfect instruments. It's really impressive!!

My SUB1 is a flip-floppy color called Cinnamon, but it can look green, red or brown. I dig the textured paint.

I shouldn't have posted this here. All you guys are making me GAS like mad!

I'll admit the narrow neck has me on the fence a bit, but man are these guitars nice. No way I'll pay for a USA model though, way too expensive this side of the world.

Man if I could sell my PRS I would definitely be picking up one from the JP line but cannot afford it without those funds.

I wish I had known about them before before getting the other guitar.
