Re: Tried a Cyber Twin today....
I've had one for about 3 years or so (not the new SE). IMO the presets really don't do anything to sell the amp-in fact, I don't use any of them. The spinning dials freak a lot of people out-don't know why...never had any problems with this at all.
As for tone, I'd like to have the opportunity to set it side by side to the other Fenders.
From what I've tried, it matches the Vibro King nicely, the deluxe reverb (DRRI) is very close. As for the drive circuitries, I think each section is different for sure-accurrate-I can't say.
If I kick up the drive in the CT it does as good of a job as a Sparkle drive, kicks the shizzizle out of any Boss drive/distortion pedals, but it can't quite keep up with my buddies Fulldrive 2, or his SIB Fat Drive.
The reverb, tremolo, chorus and delay settings are nice as is the chorus. Alot of the other stuff doesn't really appeal to me so I never use it.
Definitely not a metal amp, but it can get up and go for some blues and clean tones.
The one thing about this amp is that, even though I have a myriad of tonal possibilities at my fingertips (whether you guys think the tone's good or bad), I still gravitate towards a moderately driven Blackface setting with some delay, occasional chorus and tremolo.
It does take some time to really dial it in. I've saved some of my earlier settings and when I revisit them, I almost puke becuase the tone was not what I wanted-so I'm figuring it out for sure. That's true with all amps, though...
I've often asked myself if I'd be happier with a Deluxe Reverb or Vibrolux, and a handful of pedals.
I think there's plenty of marketing with the multi-effects amps and modelers out there. Some of you may like switching tones in a very diverse way, but I just like a gritty, sparkly Tele.
In short, I like mine, the boutique amps I've tried are better, but it does pretty much all I ask it to for my level of playing and ears.
...got mine for a bit under a grand...
