Re: Tried some guitars today...
Owned or come close to all three of the guitars you're looking at.
The Eclipse is wonderful once you re-wire it for passive pickups, still won't have big lowend response but the guitar comes alive. Those EMG's are terrible IMO. The ESP also has jumbo frets which you have to be down with. At first they seemed pretty cool but I really didn't jibe with them in the long run and didn't feel like a re-fret so I moved it along. Very nice guitar though and exceptional quality.
The newer SG's that I have played all have a fairly extreme neck angle which I just do not like, actually a lot of the newer Gibsons have it. It has stopped me from buying that 70's Firebird Trib. I swear they feel like they are bent in the middle. Otherwise SG's are pretty cool, I would recommend a nice used '61 Re-issue though if you can find it, or a used VOS in white. They're fantastic and built to a higher standard than the Standard
The Mira is a killer guitar, I haven't played the S2 yet but I am pretty sure there is a Mira in my near future. So comfortable, lots of SG-ish tones but it has it's own vibe. I think the in between scale length has a lot to do with that. Build quality is generally flawless and they play like butter, couldn't give a strong enough recommendation.
Happy hunting and congrats on your service coming to end, here's to an exciting future!
