Triple Shot mounting rings

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

I'm watching for these to become available to so I can put some P-Rails in my Epi LP. One place they should be available is from Wymore Guitars (www.wymoreguitars.com)...the owner hangs out on these forums quite a bit I've seen. I checked with them a couple of weeks ago about when the Triple Shot will be available and the response at the time was "In a couple of weeks", so it should be any time. :) So far, I believe they will only be available in black intially...I have no idea if they will have more colors eventually.

I hope they're getting in a big shipment because that's where I hope to be purchasing mine from too. It's the cheapest price I've seen online so I'd guess they'll be popular there. :)

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

They are $69 for a set. I hope they get a big shipment too...really want to put those P-Rails in! :)

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

ok, my question is do you need to clip the wires short for it to work? I havne't really read too muh about them.

My concern about them as well--from what I could understand about them, you wouldnt necessarily have to clip the wires short, but allot of the black conduit would; Unless, all of the pickup wires would be soldered to the ring switch and then either the TS Kit or your supply attached wires from the ring switch to the pots/switch/ground.... Hmm-

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

You can clip the wires short on the pickup if you like. This will be a life saver for those old pickups with short leads, too.

You don't have to cut your pickup leads short though. On the guitar on the NAMM video, I wrapped mine around the base of the pickup a few times. There was plenty of room in the pickup cavity for the extra wire. If your route is tight, you might have to cut the pickup lead short.

The only wire that goes back to the cavity is the 2-conductor.

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

These things are gonna be just huge. There's so many uses: whether just to find the tones you like, to permanently wire, to leave in the guitar, to avoid drilling holes, or make working on semi and fully hollowbody guitars, (or vintage ones, for that matter,) so much easier.

But in my opinion, the best feature of them is that you can use proper potentiometers. I used to swear by vintage Centralabs, until I found RS Guitar Works pots. There's simply no push/pull that has the great taper, perfect resistance and high-quality of these pots. They make the guitar so much more usable, and add so many great tones you just can't get from sub-par pots.

Of course, you could always use mini-toggles, but who wants to drill extra holes in their guitar, (especially a ES-335, which is a nightmare to modify.)

Add in the low-price, (Triple Shots, at $50 a pair, will cost far less than 4 push/pulls or good-quality toggles,) and it's a surefire winner.

All I can say is, the guys at Duncan have hit the ball straight out of the park with this design, and I'm sure they'll reap the rewards they deserve.

I can't wait for them to come in cream, so I can match them up with all my guitars... ;)

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

Guys, we don't need anymore commercials about what they do or how they do it... like me, most of us are sold on the idea..... people just wanna know when they're gonna be available. Is that a big SD secret? If so, just say so

Thanks!

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

:smack: Sorry about that, I forgot to answer the original post. (first rule of forum etiquette)

The first batch should be shipping in a week or so. I don't know who's first in line, who is stocking them, etc. but you should start to see them out there soon.

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

I'm assuming these pickup rings are made from plastic rather than metal. That being the case how would they compare durability-wise to stock pickup bezels? I've had to replace a few in my day, and these are pretty expensive for a part that may crack and need to be replaced.

Re: Triple Shot mounting rings

Wymore Guitars have added the Triple Shot to their Product Listing at $49.95 :

http://www.shop.wymoreguitars.com/category.sc?categoryId=46

I emailed them, they said I could order it along with my P-Rails and they'd ship the lot when the Triple Shot came in.

Order placed.

Tone Heaven, here I come.

(Oh, and by the way, this place has the best price for P-Rails I've come across, even before applying the Seymour Duncan forum discount!)

Thanks Wymore!
