TS-9 died...... RIP

My beloved TS-9 Tubescreamer finally bit the dust the other night at rehearsal. I am so lost without it! I had a TS-808 mod done, and it is a LARGE part of my tone. It really gives me a warm, cruchy tone when I need just a bit. I never turned the gain up more than about halfway on it. If I wanted more overdrive, I'd kick in the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver in conjunction w/ the TS-9 and get a real good overdriven tone.

Man, oh man....what am I going to do?

I wish I was made of money.....

Re: TS-9 died...... RIP

Done give up on it. If you had the 808 mod done (If done in a pro way?) It should have a 8 -pin socket installed for the Op-amp. a new JRC4558 cost under a dollar. That would be the 1st place I look. The switches on the TS series pedals are known to go south. Another cheap fix.:)

Re: TS-9 died...... RIP

Or the diode that regulates the way the current runs is gone, not expensive either!
:)

Exactly my first thought.

Don't give up on it. It's probably something simple. Finding the problem is the fun part. :D

Hey John................. Welcome back, Haven't seen you here much! Good to see you around! Hows the Bike??

Hi Dave.....The bike and the weather has been great for riding down here...I've been on again lately but just not too much! :)

hey john -- just letting you know that i'm using the vox wah you did for me sort of as a filter envelope -- i just set the pedal at the sound i want and leave it there -- gives you a really wide sound palette... ian

(not to hijack the thread or anything :cop: )

Re: TS-9 died...... RIP

Another option would be to send it to Robert Keeley. I'm hearing nothing but great things about his mod work. I know he does a couple of different TS-9 mods, dunno if he'll do a flat out repair.

Check out http://www.robertkeeley.com/product.php?id=5

Word of advice though - call them, I've mailed and not gotten a response. He says on his site it's best to call not email. Hope this helps!

Might be cheaper to get another TS9,unless you're also letting Keeley tweak it?

Re: TS-9 died...... RIP

Depending on the number of components you might be able to test the individual components and replace the burnt out part. My guess is that the part that burnt out is more than likely one of the modded parts.

Re: TS-9 died...... RIP

I was thinking if you had a multimeter you could at least check for continuity through the circuits and find the components that are shorted. But I may be oversimplifying.
