TS-9 or Maxon OD-9? Did I get Screwed??

So I won an Ibanez TS-9 off of Ebay,or so I thought!I open it up to check the existing chip and the circuit board says 'Maxon' on it.Did I get screwed with a bogus TS-9?

Can it still be upgraded to the JRC4558 chip?

Nope. You're fine. Maxon used to make all the Ibanez pedals.

But shouldn't the existing chip be a Motorola chip?

If I was you I would get John (Stradeluxer97) to do his mod on it and you would not have to worry about the chip or anything. A number of people have had it done, including me, and it just opens up the pedal and makes it better.

Yep! Do it. John modded two of my TS-9's and put the right chip in them and either one outperforms my real TS-808! Don't worry about the Maxon thing...that's normal and you did not get screwed. Lew

Glenn...Actually the chip you want in your TS9 is a JRC4558D and it's easily replaced as part of the overall mods...I use a chip holder on the board and you can sub different chips onto the board...The other mods would be to reconvert the TS9's output section to the TS808 specs and further tweaks for better tone and more overall lowend and gain etc..

Thanks guys.I've chatted with John about this mod a couple of months ago.I just freaked out a little when I opened it up and saw the name 'Maxon' on the circuit board.I just wanted to make sure before I send it his way that it wasn't filled with horse poop or Velveeta cheese
