Tube Amp Snobbery Apology

Re: Tube Amp Snobbery Apology

my toys are better than your toys and your toys suck

And there's also:

"You're a "snob" because you don't like the same toys I own."

"In fact, I take it so personally (because my identity lies within the gear I own), that I get all butthurt when someone disparages a product I own."

Re: Tube Amp Snobbery Apology

I am sure there are Lawyers and Dentist that are serviceable guitar players, I was referring generally to collectors and gear snobs. What I said is they are typically limited musically in some way. Let's take you for example. I would say you are a serviceable guitar player. However, I have never heard anything original you have written. That may be your limitation. I could be wrong and I hope I am. Could you please post something you have written or composed and prove me wrong. I would love to hear an original composition.

Nope.

Furthermore, you of all people here shouldn't be making demands of others in posting music on the forum; original or otherwise.

You have contributed absolutely nothing on this forum; yet you sit there making demands of others. :18:

Collectors and gear snobs - just because they are so, doesn't "prove" they can't play.

Life just isn't as simple as you make it out to be.

Re: Tube Amp Snobbery Apology

Once again you attempt to position yourself as the sole arbiter of what constitutes contribution.

:yeah:, right.

Yeah, right. That's correct.

Prove me wrong by showing me his clips he's posted here.

(The common theme here of course is posters who do nothing and contribute nothing; yet set themselves up as the sole arbiters of the forum's Lexicon of Musicianship)

I don't know about your values, but I was taught that people who do nothing should have no say in anything; let alone have their "advice" be considered valuable... or have their instructions followed.

Only those who contribute and produce have a right to any of that. Why? Because they've proven themselves by actions, not words. And on a gear forum, a clip or vid speaks volumes.

Wrong. Where's your logic? You have it backwards.

See, here's how it works. Pay attention:

You are correct about one thing: In the example, Bruce did not put you down.

But in the example, you put Bruce down by calling him a snob because he doesn't like a product that you yourself own.

Snobbery also entails superiority through calling others names like "snob". This insinuates that somehow, you have moral superiority over the other guy because he's supposedly a "snob". (For the record, the term "troll" also falls into this bucket)

It's surprising... then not so surprising if you know human nature... if you look a little beyond the surface, one can see all the manipulation and BS people put forth on a day-to-day basis.

You are being most illogical.

Calling someone a snob does not make them a snob.

Calling someone a name does not mean it is true...vast majority of the time it isn't.

EDIT: You seem confused...there is a difference between a disagreement and snobbery.

Thinking someone was being snobbish does not mean one is being a snob–on both the giving and receiving end.

I have posted plenty of clips on this forum, SoundCloud, and video. You, on the other hand, seem to be the authority on music. I just want to see how the authority strings together three chords. Don't be afraid they can be cowboy chords if you would like. Get that state of the art studio you have going and show us something original you have composed. Unless you have spent all of your time and money to buy gear to re-record clips of music that has already been recorded. I am not making demands I am just curious. FWIW I have never in my time on this forum publicly asked anyone for a clip, until now. I get the feeling we will never hear it.

A. This is the internet.

B. Translating real life to an online forum is laughable.

C. One can contribute to the forum without posting a clip.

D. I recall a discussion of a "professional musician" where you set yourself up as the sole arbiter of the forum's definition of professional.

E. This is not your forum, so you don't make the rules on who has a right to what.
F. I hope I remembered the alphabet :smash:

Yes. :laugh2:

And sometimes the person accusing someone else of being a snob is the actual snob.

i.e. Projection

See? :smash:

You are the one who doesn't see.

You said that I was being a snob by calling Bruce a snob.

That is illogical.

"Putting someone down" does not equal a snob, it is name calling.

I was not projecting superiority; rather, I was taking offense.

These are not equal.

Snobbery involves superiority, bragging, inferiority, etc.

You truly do not understand what being a snob is.

I am not going to go through every clip I have posted but you have been proven wrong. Now are you going to post something original?

That's funny... I've been here for years and I haven't seen squat. Where?

You on the other hand seem to be the authority on music.

Only in your mind. Seeing how my "how to get so-and-so's tone" videos bother you so much. :naughty:

Yes, I remember that one now. MIDI IIRC.

Still, only two entries? And one simply an iPhone or similar "production"?

Sorry, but other people here have to contributed way more than that.

And what's even more, other people here have contributed far more intricate video and audio productions.

Speaking for myself, for example, I hold Twilight Odyssey in high regard along these lines.

So are you going to post something or keep talking and making bad jokes and excuses?

I'm sorry - but I don't take orders from a forumite who has only posted 1 audio and 1 iPhone "production" video clip. :naughty:

As far as posting something, I've done plenty here. Audio clips and videos. Mixes and how-to's. Full length songs in some cases.

Heck, I just posted this yesterday:

Re: Tube Amp Snobbery Apology

So are you saying you wrote that for Randy? Let's hear something you wrote. Is there a problem? With all of the "production studio" gear you own you must have recorded at least one thing original. Or have you? Just more bad jokes and excuses? I guess we just learnt a lot about you LLL today, unless you want to prove me wrong and post an ORIGINAL clip.

I have posted more than two clips. If you want production, this won a Boston Music Award - Producer of the Year. No, I was not the producer or artist, just a hired gun. Now can we get that clip?

This starts out with a direct rip-off of Ennio Morricone. And you were saying?

Why don't I give you the number of the guy that recorded that so he can laugh while he polishes his award.

Translation:

"If someone hasn't done anything original, then everything they've done is crap. Only *my* stuff is legit because I pulled these notes right out of my ass".

I never said that, why use quotation marks? I know a lot of guitar players that make their money sitting infront of a Realbook every night that I have emence respect for. You claim to be the guitar God I find it funny you can't even pull together a two chord vamp. Throw two darts at the guitar chord poster in your room and start recording. If anyone can pull two chords out of their backside why cant you? Espesially seeing you have build Abby Road in your bathroom. No more excuses lets hear something.
