Tube Amplifier Be Gone!!!

Re: Tube Amplifier Be Gone!!!

The anticipation continues to mount.

My Helix has been "out for delivery" for over 12 hours. :saeek:

NICE!

Don't totally judge it by its presets. I found one or two that I liked, but it wasn't until I forced myself to create my own from scratch that I really got exactly what I was looking for and what I liked in terms of feel and tone. I did play around with editing presets for a bit to get the hang of programming, but then I just said "screw it" and started from a completely blank patch and it was fun. I started programming using the editor via my laptop. Once I'd created some patches that way, I was able to then go in using the pedal itself and do some programming. You can certainly program a blank patch from the unit itself, but it's much easier using the editor.

I'm contemplating trading some gear for a Friedman BE100 tube head right now... as that's the only piece of gear that's been in the man cave that's still haunting me (I had a friend's for about a month while he was traveling). But even if I manage to acquire one, I plan to keep and use the Helix regularly. It's just so much more practical and versatile than any tube amp. I still love my Helix and play it every day.

Four Cable Method, you will do it, I know you will. Lol

I certainly will! Though I also have an M9 that I could just run in the loop. That's what's in my Quickrod at the moment.

4CM didn't work with my TC G-System and XTC Classic. But there was something weird about the Bogner loops and that unit from my recollection. Had to use the Kill-Dry feature, but it still sounded out of phase. Was a HUGE disappointment to not be able to utilize such a feature-laden floor system with such an iconic amp. I moved the TC unit not long after that. I prefer the FX from Line 6 models to anything I ever got out of the TCs anyways.

Damn, that's a bummer. Ironically, I'm trying to get rid of a G-System at the moment.

And I'm contemplating trying 4CM with my Triple Rec Reborn. I tried the FX loop trick the other day where you jump the FX loop and crank the level. It pushed the PI tube harder so the poweramp distorts a little sooner. Sounded great, especially in 50 watt mode. I'm thinking if I run it with the Helix, I'll be able to put a volume block before the return and maybe push it harder. I'm not sure if I can crank the Recto's loop level, though. I know that the Helix has alot of headroom in the converters, but I'll have to see.

Re: Tube Amplifier Be Gone!!!

The eagle has landed, and I have about 3 hours in playing with it.

I'm confused about some of the programming, though. Working on it.
