Tuning machine question.

I want to put some locking tuners on my schecter ( because i am just terrible with normal tuning machines.) but all i can find from schaller or sperzel is "six in line". My headstock has a 3x3 setup. is there any difference between a 6 in line set and a 3x3 set?

Re: Tuning machine question.

With 3x3, the 1-3 turn in the opposite direction. While you can put either one on either head (I once put 3x3 Sperzels on a 6-inline head), you just have to remember which way to turn them. You'll also have to put them on so the 3rd and 4th bodies don't crowd each other.

Of course this also means that 3 will be without mounting screws, unless you drill new holes.

Re: Tuning machine question.

I know for sure Schaller makes at least the M6 locking tuners with a 3+3 option. Heck they even make 4+2 for MM's etc.
If you're from USA, check no further than Stew-Mac, they are official Schaller dealer with replacement parts and everything, if they don't have it, no one does. Maybe a bit pricey and shipping isn't forgiving too, but at least you know what you're getting.
