Tuning Poll

What tuning do you use most often. I definetly stick with E Standard tuning.... Also usually keep a guitar in Eb and drop to D or Db sometimes...

drop D for me. although there are a few occations where i'll play in standard, or sometimes in drop db or drop C.

the weirdest tuning i've ever seen/heard is the other guitarist in my band....he tunes to D A D A D D, with both the high D strings tuned at exactly the same pitch. it's really odd, but it works i suppose.

Schecter in E or Drop D, Jackson in D or C, sometimes Drop C or Drop Bb.

I mostly always do drop D. It is easy to go back to standard and back, just do it by ear. Power Chords are easier :dance: I'm probably to lazy and Drop D doesn't help :laugh2:

I stay in E for the most part... but I go down to Eb occasionally.

I stay in E usually, sometimes i tune a half step down.

My Tele is tuned to standard E and my Strat is tuned to Eb , occasionally I tune in dropped D for Unchained , Drop Dead Legs ect.....

I use standard, open D and open G, most of the time. I also keep a Strat tuned to Eb standard. I occasionally use Drop D and Double Drop D (DADGBD) Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" is probably the best example of this tuning.

Of the choices given, I had to go with standard E.

most of my guitars are in E which i play the most but i do have two fat strats with thick strings both set to drop C and an ibanez set to drop D. this reminds me, i need to play in Eb a bit more, i hardly ever do.

Well...most of the time it is either E (EADGBE) or EbEbAbDbGbBbEb) and drop D with either of them or I go to open D (DADF#AD) or open G(DGDGBD), with the open G sometimes I keep the low string, sometimes I take it off...sometimes I drop the whole thing down a fourth (BEADF#B). I am also prone to using a Drop A (AADGBE) or a drop B and E (BEDGBE).

I also play in Drop D, Eb, Drop Db, and Drop C tunings though (in that order in terms of usage). Sometimes though, if I don't want to tune my guitar down to Eb, Drop Db, or Drop C, I'll just play it in Standard or Drop D, but raise the pitch of the song using Audacity. I guess I'm just lazy like that. :burnout:

Strat w/Floyd - E

Les Paul - E & Drop D

Strat (blocked trem) - D & Drop C

About 70% of my playing is in E, the other 19% in drop C, and maybe 1% in D/Drop D.

for me its E or Eb... sometimes drop D.. but i rarely go lower... if i frequently do i think i baritone will suit the purpose!!

For me as well it's standard E tuning or E flat depending on what I'm playing. All of Thin Lizzy's stuff for example was tuned to E flat..and just sounds better.

I can't stand all that lower drop tuning stuff I hear everywhere these days
