Twang Banger bridge with fender Fat 50's

I have a strat with a trio of Fat 50's and like the neck and middle but don't like the bridge pickup. The Twang Banger seems like the right pickup for me. I have heard that foe position 4 to remain noise cancelling I would need an RWRP Twang Banger in the bridge. Is this correct?

you can just swap the neck and middle fat 50s for the same result.
Or you can just go without the hum cancelling. I prefer the non-rwrp sound.

I'm in the same boat--love the neck and middle of the Fat 50s but am having trouble with the bridge pickup.

I am gonna try a UOA5 magnet in a Custom and put that in the bridge with the Fat 50s, hopefully that will give me the beef I need in the bridge.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I was on fender's site and the neck and middle have different specs so I'd rather order up a pickup I can drop in.

The Twang Banger (or Red Velvet if you dislike the vintage stagger) would be an excellent match to the Fat '50's.

You don't need RW/RP, and it will make the pickup harder to sell should you decide you don't like it. Just use Gibson175's tip to maintain hum-cancelling notch positions. OTOH, getting it RW/RP will save you labor time, as it eliminates the need to swap and set up the other two pickups.

Re: Twang Banger bridge with fender Fat 50's

I tried this, got a rw/rp twang banger, and the magnetic poles repelled with the new TB and the rw middle fat 50s. As in they were the same polarity. Why? Who knows?! I think the TB was labeled wrong as I have a rw/rp APS-2 and it attracts to the middle fat 50's as you would expect. My advice, just build a pickguard with all Duncan's then you can swap to your hearts content and have certainty that your polarity is correct. The TB is a good bit darker than your Fat 50s bridge, but I did like the tone in my 2012 AM Standard.

Re: Twang Banger bridge with fender Fat 50's

Hi,
I have tried the TwangBanger in every spot. Bridge, mid, neck. I use a Fender '69 now in the mid, Twang in the neck, ECPickup humbucker in the bridge. In all my iterations, the Duncans only work with the Fender rewired so the Fender's black is hot and the white goes to ground. The 2 & 4 positions (2 being neck & mid) are gorgeous. Especially position "2". The Duncans, Gibson's, and ECP's have all worked as the wiring is intended. I only had to flip the fender. And there is almost NO hum in the "4" position. The hum in "2" doesn't bother me.
I flat out love Twangbangers in any position. But always with a 'bucker or low wind single coil, for variety.

My only "true" Fender Strat has a Twangbanger with Texas Specials. Sounds like what a Strat should sound like. Especially love the #2 and #4 notch positions.
