Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

Re: Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

--I tell ya, for a 15 yearold you sure are focused as to what you want-that amp ia amazing & will be with ya til death(a long time)--if yer smart...sounds like you are.

I wish I had that insight when I was 15, I was too busy riding bmx bicycles & doin dum****!!

Re: Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

I have to agree with Rid. Tweeds are plug and play amps with simple, direct circuits. EQ is defeating the purpose of using a tweed amp.

learn how to use the controls, how they interact, and how to jump channels for different tones.

Agreed. I can see putting a boost pedal between the guitar and a tweed, but not much else. Of course, the key to getting your sound is experimentation. Where would bands like Pink Floyd and Radiohead be without that?

Enjoy! I'm jealous. :)

We do have some seriously focused young men on this site. I too wish I had that kind of laser-like focus on tone etc when I was younger. I wasn't allowed a guitar until I was old enough to earn and buy one myself. Still wish I was that smart starting out...

I wish I were that focused now. Last night I was playing Tool on my Les Paul. Before that, I was trying to cop some licks from Roy Buchanan on my Tele. A couple weeks ago, it was all Ace Frehley. Before that, I was testing out some recording software by laying down a David Gilmour solo. I'm sorta all over the place.

Re: Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

It kinda boggles my mind that anybody sticks OD or EQ pedals in front of a tweed amp...just buy a Crate and get it over with. Leave the tweeds to the musicians...

. . . hell, i only oicke up the guitar at age 22 !!! :eek13:

Everyone told me that was too late :blackeye:

At age 15, i was chasing girls ! (no time for BMX's, no sir it was girls from day one for me :13: )

Re: Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

Wow, you guys make it seem that I don't have a life just because I got a vintage-styled, higher-priced amp... :)

It's not that hard to "get focused" as far as I'm concerned or what it seems to me. I just like to play the blues, that's the stuff I listen to - SRV, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks etc. I know what those guys play - vintage Fender amps. I know that Fenders have great cleans. I play clean about 60% of the time, maybe more because of my new obsession with jazz. So I figure go for Fender amps. Thats half the battle. Then internet research for a little bit, a couple of trips to the guitar shops, and the rest is working and saving up :13: I still do plenty of chasing for girls (please don't get me started with that) and other stupid sh!it with friends, you get the idea.

As for the pedals, Im just starting to get used to the amp and experimenting with it. It's not such a crime to put an OD in fron tof the tweed amp WHEN YOU FIRST BUY IT. And besides, I might want that extra overdrive via pedal so I dont have windows breaking and furniture falling over :smack: I'm not going to say, "UP ITS A TWEED AMP TIME TO THROW AWAY ALL MY PEDALS." No, you ****en try them and experiment with them, thats how people get their sound. And I think that they sound pretty good with the amp because the amp is so transparent. Im not going to use them all the time, but its nice to have it sitting in front of the amp for you to plug in when you get the urge for some more Marshally sounds.

EQ pedal, you guys convinced me not to go that way, it was only somethign I was thinking about anyway so dont flame me for the crime please. I've been tooling around with the amp a lot more today and I finally think I dialed in a good cranked sound, but you know with those pesky settings, they could sound like crap tomorrow and sound amazing again the day after. SO its eternally fooling around with them. I also ordered a Y cable with 2 male ends and one female end so I can jump the channels and combine them using the two volumes. And I also ran the amp in stereo with my Gibson GA5. I had the guitar plugged into input 1 of my Gibson amp. Then had the input 2 of the Gibson amp linked to input 1 normal channel of the tweed amp. I had the Gibson's volume pretty much flat out and the Tweed set to a growlin clean setting (both were the same loudness so you can really hear the stereo effect). It sounded really good and I was very impressed. Hope to fool around with it more.

Re: Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

You get decent simple gear, you practice, and you get your 'sound' with your hands and your heart. Focus-Pick a place to stand and play some music---it's a waste of time to try to be all things to all people (a little Zeppelin, a little Joe Pass, a little Van Halen...that's a smorgasbord, not a meal).

I'm glad to hear you saying this. You don't need to justify your own experimentation with others. It's your stuff and your sound. Do it your way!

I'm very happy for you, bro. :)

Re: Tweeeeeeeeeddddddd

Nothing wrong with some pedals...the eq is just....erm well not really needed here:D
But as you say it takes pedals well....I used to test the old Plexitone alot on one of these amps!
Screamin' stuff:D
And with lowgainers...wow what a tone!
But the best is just blending those two channels, and fire up the lowend until the thing starts to feed on sustained strings.....hard to wipe a smile off ones face then!
:D
