Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Stevo

Tonus Maximus Pacificas
This classical song came on the radio and I just started jamming with it.. kept going :D
I mic'd the acoustic with 2 sm57s, both 8" away. One was pointed at the hole and one was pointed at the 12th fret. A couple of years ago, a producer told me to try this method and I finally gave it a shot.
The electric guitar is my trusty LP with a Seth Lover bridge pickup.

I liked it very much!

A very beautiful melody!! Is it the "Patchelbel canon"?

How did you got that tone from you LP? I allways have poblems to get this smooth sound with distorsion. I just don't know how to get there...

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

very cool.... i feel like ive heard that before, but it wasnt a classical song (but i think it was just that note progression)

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Bachelbel... Yeah baby, Yeah!!

Canon in D by Johann Bachelbel. It's launched a million weddings.

I really liked the lead tone, and your acoustic sounds great. Soundhole + 12th fret, must remember that.

Where'd you get the drums?

Stevo,
Was that your Cakewalk?
Yes I used GT pro and ACID drums. I put some heavy reverb on the drum mix. I thought it sounded pretty cool on the toms.
The acoustic at the beginninig is totally dry then I used some subtle reverb on it later.

Mongrollo I played through a Marshall plexi and mic'd my greenback speaker up close.

Flank the higher guitar reminded me of Ziggy Stardust :D

Thanks dudes :D

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

That was awesome great job! I do hear Mick Ronson and Mick Ralphs both in there.

Man this tune was a thumb-killer..know what I mean? I was up pretty late with it.. oh well, making music is the stuff :32:

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Stevo, that was awesome!!!! That sounds a lot like something you'd hear in a movie. I really dig that tone, man. I think this is one of your best yet, you shoulda made it longer! :)

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Very well done!! The acoustic had good clarity and balance (never can get that when I try recording acoustic). Loved the lead tone.

Thanks BIU. I had some big electric chords in there for anther segment but I took it out cuz it just was not clicking. I'll try again.. my friend wants a copy for a wedding reception so I will work on it a little more :)

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

I like that a lot. I like what you did on the lead playing there a lot!

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Great Stevo... great tone! Always liked you Plexi tone. Very cool to listen too.

The drums are awesome... are they included with GT Pro? I want to buy this software for a while.

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Thanks guys. This was different :D

Sly D I use ACID loops for drums, then import them in to cakewalk guitar tracks.

Re: Twisted Classical Tune - Acoustic and Electric

Hey Rid thanks a lot. This is probably the best sound I have got with my acoustic and my home studio :)

The guitar is one of those Sigmas. I paid about $100 for it and it has really nice action.
