Van Halen cover- Panama

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

d00d, if no one has replied by now, then it probably sucks, L:(L.

No offense. . . .

You need to hit up SOSOMETHING and ask him to teach you hot to shred.
He's the shred master.
Shred master.
Master.

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

Yah, don't listen to Jimmy, he's a DICK. Some people make themselves feel bigger by cutting down others.

I liked your clip. Technically, there's some room for improvement, but the important thing is you have the rhythm in your head. It comes through in your playing. Instead of hacking through the song like most people do, you took the time to learn the parts correctly and it showed. Keep practicing, it's real evident you've got the gift.

Heem6, I don't know you. Should I know you?

Hold on, my secretary is making a phone call to yer house. She left a message.

I think you missed the part where I said:

"No offense. . . ."

L:guilty:L

I like his clip, :(

I'm not trying to make myself feel BIGGER by cutting him down.
I was just trying to humor him.

Get it?
Like. . . a funny?
Like, . . . in the comics?
A Ha-ha?
A ho-ho-ho-hee-hee-hee?
A Tee-Hee?

TEOL

Sorry for trying to make a wise-crack. You didn't have to cut me down and call me a "dick". That hurts my feelings. :tearz:

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

Bro,

you know Im a fan and you didnt disappoint!! Very well done! I am always blown away by how good your clips sound thru your simple setup..

If you want critique, here are the only things I could hear.. Your overall tone is darker. This is especially evident in the beginning. This isnt bad, just different from the original.

And, the part where the single notes are "plinked" arent as clean as the original. I have no clue how to do it, so Im not trying to nit pick, just letting you know what makes it different than the orig..

As always, you rock and good job!

Its obvious its a joke (cause of the master, master thing right??) but anyway i dont consider Van Halen or Myself a shredder, so its ok
Thanks again man!

Hahaha thanks BloodRose, i realized about the tone after recording it, cause then i listened comparing the two tracks. The harmonics are not so clean too, its really hard for me to get them right!!
Thanks for listening to my covers man! I really appreciate it

And sorry everybody for my english!! :duck:

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

Sorry, Jimmy - tell me where the funny part is again? Where you say his clip sucks -with the frowning face LOL? Or the no offense part - in little tiny letters?

By the way, you made some cheesy comments about a clip I posted as well, that's why you're feeling no love from me.

It's the stuff in small font, L:ooL

But I was serious about yer thread.
If yer gonna make a song called "The Thing" I want some Fantastic Four Clobbering Time action.

I still love you, though.

Love!

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

youve got the feel and tone and chops, i think you were playing a tiny bit behind the beat possibly? i dont know....

Nothing wrong with that. The major problem most post-van halen rock players have is not knowing how to sit behind the beat. That's why so many players have that 'junior high school' feel about their music.

yeah but its different too. this sounds a little too far behind, not that sexy groove like jazz or blues behind the beat. no offense bro, but to me it just sounds off time. but the swagger thats cool is only milliseconds from being off, so id say you can do it easy with another go

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

It sounds like you have inverted the song and tried to play on the beat. Take a look at the tab.

Re: Van Halen cover- Panama

You have some good lead skills...but I find your rhythm rather....lacking...not fluid enough. I don't know...something about the rhythm just sounded off...

Fair enough. If I was to make a criticism, that's it sounds like maybe there's more love from the player for the lead parts than the rhythm parts. It's funny, because players who really overemphasise working on their soloing don't often realise that becoming an awesome rhythm player (like Ed) will make their soloing even better.

as someone who spent their first 5 years of playing as a rhythm player, id say this man is 100 percent right. its like how my friends think the solo is the focal point of the song, but to me its the almighty riff

I understand, i was the opposite, i spent my first years trying to learn solo techniques and that kind of stuff, and THEN i began to learn some rhthym stuff, thats why im still a noob in rhthym playing

Thanks for all the comments dudes
